From the Principal
Dear Parent,
Thank you for your interest in Chesterbrook Academy Elementary and Middle School in Sterling. I want to take this opportunity to share with you some important information about our school.
Since 1998, our school has focused on providing personalized academic instruction while incorporating 21st skills such as collaboration, investigation, discovery, communication and leadership. Our goal is to educate and introduce our students to skills and experiences which will make them successful today and tomorrow.
Our rigorous, standards-based curriculum was designed by the Nobel Learning Education Department, a team of highly skilled experts in curriculum design, instruction and assessment. We provide opportunities for students to master skills, problem solve, make positive decisions, and practice higher level thinking. The fundamental skills in reading, writing and math begin in our junior kindergarten program and become more complex with each grade level. Our students don’t just memorize what they learn; they apply their knowledge through individual and group projects.
Rich and challenging content is the foundation of our curriculum; however, we believe students need more than academic knowledge to achieve future success. Field trips are one way to help students make real life connections to lessons learned in the classroom. We take advantage of the rich resources in our area by visiting places such as the Maryland Science Center, Museum of Natural History and Colonial Jamestown.
Please feel free to contact us to schedule a private tour of our campus. I look forward to meeting with you, gaining anunderstanding of your child’s educational needs, and discussing how we can work together to meet them.
Sincerely,
Lydia Soto, Principal
