Happy New Year!

We’ve been fortunate to not have too many cold days yet, but I’m sure they are coming!   That means extra time indoors.  Here at Chesterbrook, we have lots to keep us busy and active even when we are indoors.  But what about when you are at home.  Do you ever run out of ideas of what to do?  There is always TV, right? There are shows that children watch that can certainly stimulate imagination and learning.  But not every show is appropriate for young children.   What can we do instead of TV?  Here are some ideas:

• Limit time children spend in front of any type of screen.  The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends no more than 1 to 2 hours/ day.  (Screen time includes TV, computer, iPads, etc.)
• Make a list of things you and your child enjoy doing.  Reading, crafts, games, etc.  Create an activity box by write these things on Popsicle sticks or papers.  You can randomly pull one out to choose an activity to do.
• Schedule a weekly family night.  Have your child help come up with the dinner menu and an activity to do after dinner.  (They can help to make dinner too:)
• Make a card/ write a letter to a grandparent or aunt or uncle.  (They will love getting mail from your child.)

  There are many things we can do inside!  These activities allow us to spend quality time with our children.  It will be fun for all!

• 23rd: Measure your Feet Day
• 25th: Opposite Day
• 26th: Winter Celebration begins at 4pm
• 27th: Chinese New Year observed: It is the year of the Rooster
• 30th: Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day
• 31st: Inspire your heart with art Day

Reminders

• Please be sure to wash your child’s hands upon entry into the classroom.  We want to do our best to keep germs at bay!
• Please be sure all schedule changes have been approved by the office.
• Please sign your child in and out each day; the sheets are located in the foyer outside of the office.
• Please do not leave your vehicles running while you are inside the building.
