December has arrived and the school is a flurry of activity as we prepare for the holidays and learn about our various family and cultural traditions from around the world! We will also be getting ready for our annual Snowflake Festival on Friday,December16th at 5:00pm. Please be sure to complete and return your family’s RSVP as well as reserving a spot for the Holiday Concert “Viewing Party” via Sign-up Genius. Here is the link for your reference: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0448aca62aa57-snowflake
We will be pre-recording the concert on Friday, December 9th. You are welcome to send your child dressed for the occassion. Then, on Friday, December 16th we will host 2 “Viewing Parties” for our families while the children enjoy a Holiday Puppet Show. The concert will begin at 5:00pm and 5:25pm, and is anticipated to run approximately 20 minutes with refreshments to follow after. Refreshments will be served buffet-style and rooms will be open for families to eat and mingle. We look forward to celebrating the holiday season with our families!
In this season of giving, we would like to give back to those less fortunate. This year we have partnered with Scholastic for theGreat Bedtime Story Pajama Drive benefitting the Pajama Program, a nonprofit organization that provides new pajamas and books to children in need – especially in group homes, shelters, foster care, and orphanages. Help us reach our goal of collecting 100 pairs of pajamas! We will conclude our Pajama Drive on Friday, December 16th by having a pajama day! We would like the children to wear their warm, winter/holiday themed jammies for the day (and our festivities)! Oh, what fun it will be! Thank you for helping us share the gift of a good night’s sleep and a sweet bedtime story!
In addition, our “upperclassmen” will be visiting our grandfriends at New Seasons for a Holiday Sing-A-Long on Tuesday, December 20th, followed by our classroom celebrations on Thursday, December 22nd. Stay tuned for future details from your child’s teachers. We will then settle in for our Pajama and Polar Express Day on Friday, December 23rd before the holiday break beginning Monday, December 26th through New Year’s.
As a reminder, our school will be closed for the holidays on Monday, December 26th and Monday, January 2nd. The week of December 27th-30th are non-academic days due to decreased enrollments over the holiday break. Please note that we will be posting attendance sign-ups for this week so that we may adjust our staffing needs accordingly. Our classes will be in combination to accomodate the attendance shifts during this period. We appreciate your understanding.
Now that the cooler months are upon us, please be sure to update your child’s extra change of clothing in their cubby, and dress your child for the weather conditions (ex: hat, gloves, scarf). We continue to go outdoors year-round unless there are hazardous conditions, even if for a few minutes. Also a reminder, because the safety of our children is of paramount concern to us, we require that vehicle ignitions MUST be turned off and the keys removed while parked on school grounds.
Please be sure to post our School Closing/Delay information in a visible location for your reference in the event of inclement weather or other circumstances that may impact our regular school operations. (see attached: school-closing-alerts )We broadcast this information on channel 6 ABC. Parents are able to sign-up for text messaging and email alerts through www.6ABC.com when our school reports a delay or closing. We will also do our best to send out an e-notify to all of our families, and add a message to our school website homepage banner, if we have power and technology capabilities. In the event of an Early Dismissal during our hours of operation, we will utilize these resources in addition to contacting parents of children in our care at that time.
With the rush of the holidays here, I would like to remind everyone to take time to enjoy this special and magical time with your children and families. These times pass all too quickly.
Happy Holidays to you and yours, and Best Wishes for the New Year ahead!

The holidays are a busy time for all of us, filled with family traditions, get-togethers, shopping and traveling. With the hustle and bustle of it all, it’s important to pause and reflect on our many blessings and invite our children to do so as well. It’s a great time to[.....]
