From the Principal’s Office:
In December, we will be helping our students develop the spirit of giving and helping others; as we host out annual “Food Drive” and our new “Adopt-a- Senior” Project. We have boxes up front for families to drop off non-perishable food items to donate to Loaves and Fishes through Thursday, December 8th. We are also helping to bring some holiday cheer to a senior living community through our “Adopt-a- Senior” project (see school spotlight section for more information). Please take a moment to scroll down to the article titled “Helping Children Develop the Spirit of Giving” by Dr. Lauren Starnes; to learn more about how you can support your child in developing a spirit of giving.

Adopt-a-Senior
This holiday season we will be joining forces with Well Wishes Project to provide holiday gifts to the residents of Park Towers Senior Apartments in Joliet. Park Towers is a low income apartment complex that houses 142 residents, the holiday season can be difficult for older adults as many organizations provide assistance to families and children and many are often alone. This year, together with the Chesterbrook Academy Preschools in Shorewood, Plainfield, and Naperville we will be able to spread holiday cheer to these senior citizens.
Well Wishes Project was created by former Chesterbrook family Dawn and Brian Kemp. After Dawn’s battle with breast cancer, they decided they wanted to give back to the community by providing little extras that many struggling families cannot afford. Other projects include Birthday Bags distributed to local food pantries, Easter Eggs, and Valentine’s Day Cards. If you would like more information about Well Wishes Project, visit their website at http://wellwishesproject.wix.com/kindness-project or on Facebook at Well Wishes Project- Plainfield.
The display board has stockings from the residents with their name, gender, and 1-3 gift ideas. If you would like to adopt a senior for this holiday season, please choose a stocking and purchase a gift from their list. Please return all gifts, wrapped and labeled by closing on Friday, December 9th. Gifts will be delivered the week of December 12th.
Winter Program
Mark your calendar our winter program will be on Saturday, December 10th. All our students will be performing on stage (and some parents too). Performances will begin at 10:15am, so we are asking families to arrive by 10:00am.

Please take a moment to review how traffic should flow in our parking lot: Traffic is to enter the parking lot on the Chesterbrook Academy Elementary School side and then follow all the way around the lot and park on the preschool side. Traffic should exit the parking lot on our preschool side. Please make sure to slow down near the cross walk so that you are able to watch for pedestrians crossing from one building to the next and to avoid any accidents or injuries. Heavy traffic times are from 8:30am to 8:45am and 3:35pm to 3:55pm; to avoid these heavy traffic times please arrive to the campus either before or after these arrival and dismissal times.
