Greetings Chesterbrook Academy Famillies!
Fall is finally here! I love the crisp, cool air, the crunchy leave and the delicious tastes and smells of the harvest time. Fall is also my favorite season in the classroom. The sensory experiences the children get to explore are numerous, from leaf crunching and rubbings, to pinecone decorating, to acorn collecting and counting. October is also the time of pumpkin painting, pumpkin carving and pumpkin explorations. I can’t wait to begin sending home the pictures of our fall sensory explosion!!
Our Extracurricular activities are well underway and the children are having a blast with Lil’ Sports, Lil’ Dance and Soccer Shots. It is never too late to join in the fun. You can sign your child up for these classes at any time. Extra registration forms can be found at the front desk. Makin’ Music is also starting a new session in mid-October. Please see Mary Ellen or Catie if you are interested in getting your child included in the fun.
October 24th is bring a pumpkin day!! We are asking all the children to bring in their own personal sized pumpkin (small-medium sized) to decorate. Throughout the week the children will use various art materials to decorate their pumpkins for our “Pumpkin Parade!” Friday October 28th at 3:30pm we will have our Harvest Parties and Pumpkin Parade. The children are encouraged to bring a costume to wear and show off during our “Pumpkin Parade.” All parents and friends are invited. Our parking lot will be blocked off for the parade, so we are asking everyone to park next door in the Collegium parking lot.
There will also be a class pumpkin carving/decorating competition. Each class will get a large pumpkin. The children will have a chance to see what’s inside a pumpkin and explore the pumpkin “guts”. Then the class will either carve or decorate their pumpkin. These pumpkins will be displayed during the pumpkin parade. Parents will receive a ballot to vote on the best looking pumpkin. The winning pumpkin will receive a prize for their classroom.
As you can see, we have lots of fun activities going on throughout the month of October. Don’t miss out on any of the learning fun!!
