From the Principal
Dear Families,
It is hard to believe that this school year is coming to an end! We have made new friends, learned from each other, and boy, have we grown!
This month is certainly a time of transitions! Some of our friends will be moving to new classrooms with new teachers; we are excited! Some of us are staying right where we are and we are ready for summer fun and activities! New friends are joining us each week and we are excited to meet them! No matter what the transition, the teachers and staff here at Chesterbrook Academy will help make these transitions smooth as we roll out our Summer Camp Program! We will continue to learn and grow and we’ll have plenty of summertime fun while we’re at it! More information will be sent home directly for children ready to transition to a new classroom or program, stay tuned!
Summer camp begins the week of June 13th for both our School Age and Preschool Programs. We have so many of fun activities planned – be sure to check our Camp Calendar for highlighted special activities and events! Our campers will receive Camp T-Shirts next week and are expected to wear their Camp T-shirts for all field trips and in-house events!
Here are some simple things parents and children can do to stay on track, while taking a break to enjoy summer family time. The following activities will keep you motivated and educated:
- Read and discuss literature and poetry
- Retell and reflect on events after a fun family activity
- Ask open ended questions such as why? What if?
- Older children can help create a budget for a family outing or vacation
- Younger children can categorize, count, or describe objects while playing in the park or on an outing, even in your own backyard!
The opportunities for learning are endless, just take a closer look at summer fun and you will find them!
As the seasons change it is a great time to update and check your child’s extra clothes and supplies! Please be sure to apply sunscreen before drop off each day – the teachers will continue to apply in the afternoon.
As always, it is an honor to work with and watch your children grow. Thank you for choosing our school for your children.
Sincerely,
Lisa Delaney and Kathleen Spross
