CONGRATULATIONS CHESTERBROOK ACADEMY KINDERGARTEN CLASS OF 2016! June has arrived. It is a month of graduation celebrations and end of the year festivities and a month that you will see growth within our school. Please help us by welcoming all of our new families to the school from the Royersford Chesterbrook Academy. Their first official day is June 13, 2016. We hope you will like the changes you see take place this month in the moving of our classrooms and organization of our classrooms.
This month we will be welcoming back some of our college student teachers to the classrooms as camp counselors and lifeguards. We will also be welcoming staff from the Royersford Chesterbrook Academy to work in several of the current classrooms that will be experiencing growth. Please help us make them feel welcome by introducing yourself and welcoming them to our school. It was only 7 months ago when I made this transition and you all did a wonderful job helping me make this school feel like my home. Again, thank you for that – it really was a tremendous help.
As we start summer camp this month – please refer to the camp calendars daily to see what is occurring in your child’s classroom. In conjunction with the teachers we have special days planned each month. One big change to our camp calendar this year is that our older campers – Pre-K2 through 6th grade will go on a fieldtrip every week. I know many of them are excited about these adventures. Also, we were able to increase the amount of pool time by a few minutes that each classroom has on a weekly basis. At this point each classroom will have the opportunity to swim 3 days a week. However, we ask that you please make sure their swimming apparel is here daily. If there is an opportunity to make up for a missed swim day or have an extra swim day we will be jumping in the pool.
If you have not done so already – please make sure we are aware of your summer vacation, vacation requests must be submitted to the office by Wednesday, June 1st. We don’t want anyone to miss out on utilizing your vacation credit! Please put your request in writing at least two weeks prior to the date of your vacation request to utilize your credit.
The last day to make changes to your child’s camp schedule is Friday, June 10th!
Have a great summer!
I hope to see all of you at our ice cream social on June 17th here at the school from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Sincerely,
Donna Baus
Principal
Reminders
Late Pick Up Fees
As per the Parent Handbook, a fee will be assessed to any families picking up after our closing time of 6:00 p.m. In the past weeks we have noticed an influx of families picking up their children after our closing time of 6:00 p.m. We ask that you please abide by this policy. We will be getting stricter with following this policy. Any family who picks up their child after 6:00 p.m. will be charged a late fee of $5.00 for the first part of 5 minutes they are late, and $1.00 per minute thereafter. This fee will be assessed per child.
Below is the excerpt from the Parent Handbook that shares this policy. This can be found on page 10 of the 2015-2016 Parent Handbook.
Our school is open and supervised daily during the stated hours of business, excluding the holidays observed during the year and based on a 10-hour school day as per our tuition agreement. Please make sure if more hours are needed you need to put it on the DPW fee agreement, so we can staff accordingly. .If your child remains at school past the designated closing time you will be charged a late fee of $5.00 for any part of 5 minutes after closing and $1.00 every minute thereafter. There is no grace period. For families with multiple children enrolled, these fees apply to every child with no discount awarded.
If you have any questions of concerns please feel free to contact a member of the management team.
VACATION AND ILLNESS
Each child who is enrolled on a continuous basis is entitled to one free week of vacation per year that he/she is enrolled July thru June. Vacation credits will be eligible initially to new enrollees after the completion of 6 mos. and earned yearly on July 1st provided that your child remains enrolled in the school. Enrollment must be continuous July thru June to be eligible for any vacation credits. If you choose to withdrawal your child for any extended period of time, you will forfeit your eligibility to earn vacation credits. If your child attends on less than a full time basis, the number of vacation credit days equals the number of days per week he/she attends. You may not ‘carry over’ vacation credits from one school year to the next. You may not use vacation credits after you have notified us of the withdrawal of your child from your school. Vacation credit may only be taken in consecutive days and your child may not be in attendance. You may not use as individual days unless special circumstances occur and this will be granted only at the discretion of the principal. Enrollment is continuous throughout the year and it is the guarantee for a reservation for your child. There are no deductions in tuition for absences, illness or the holidays that are observed throughout the year. For specifics regarding holiday schedules and other contractual arrangements regarding absences to school please consult your tuition agreement. All summer vacations must be submitted by June 1st to help manage summer employment vacations and maintain state ratios.
