Dear Parents,
Happy April and it’s finally Spring! As they say, “April Showers bring May Flowers”. This month have a plethora of learning experiences enticed with lots of fun as we celebrate the Week of the Young Child and Earth week, so be sure to stay up to date with your calendar of events. We are in the final stretch of our 2021/2022 school year, and it seems so cliché to say that this school year has absolutely flown by. It is evident that our children are reaching new heights in development. Many of our students are working on higher level skills to meet their growing needs. That’s the beauty of our Links to Learning curriculum; it grows with your child.

Week of the Young Child
Week of the Young Child, April 4th-8th, is an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) celebrating early learning, young children, their teachers and families. We have many fun activities planned for Music Monday, Tasty Tuesday, Work Together Wednesday, Artsy Thursday and Family Friday. We will send more information via Links 2 Home soon.
Earth Day
Mark your calendar! On Friday, April 22nd, our students will participate in a hands-on learning experience about the environment as they release 6,000 ladybugs to commemorate Earth Day. It is never too early to start teaching children the importance of keeping our planet clean and learning how to reduce, reuse, and recycle. With a little guidance and supervision, children can get creative helping our earth. After all, small steps can lead to big changes. Our annual Earth Day Ladybug release program is a pest management initiative. Ladybugs eat other harmful pests like aphids and mealy bugs providing an earth-friendly way to maintain the ecosystem without using harsh chemicals. On release day each child will have an opportunity to explore their senses as they hold ladybugs and watch them fly off to do their part in helping planet earth stay healthy and green. We can’t wait to see the excitement the children will have in releasing these little ladybugs. What a great nature experience for them! Leading up to this event, students will explore, create, and learn about the life cycle of a ladybug, create polka dot ladybug hats or wings, and use recyclable materials to create a school wide collage.
