A Note From Our Principal
Happy April! Happy Spring! What a month this is going to be!
We are looking forward to spending more time outdoors and exploring all of the wonderful changes nature has in store for us as we enjoy the new season. There is nothing quite like finding new buds on the trees or flowers popping up after a long winter’s sleep or the smell after a Spring rain. Have you been noticing any robins in your yard? We have! It is exciting to see and hear the birds sing again. It is truly a beautiful time of year filled with new things to explore. I hope you get a chance to stop and discover them with your child too.
Week of the Young Child
We begin April with The Week of the Young Child, April 4th-8th. The Week of the Young Child is an annual event sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) celebrating early learning, young children, their teachers, and their families. We have many activities planned for Music Monday, Tasty Tuesday, Work Together Wednesday, Artsy Thursday, and Family Friday.
Earth Day
Our classes will be celebrating Earth Day, April 22nd, with our annual event of releasing ladybugs. Dress your child in red and black or anything with ladybugs on it that you may have. The children will enjoy a reading of “The Grouchy Ladybug” and will be making special hats to wear as well. It is great fun watching the children’s reactions to the ladybugs as they decide if they really want to hold them and place them on our trees! Once they see the teachers and other children holding out their hands to receive a few, most children become willing participants. Of course, sometimes a few children think they would be great classroom pets and bring them inside with them! So keep your eyes open for a few stowaways.
Parent Surveys
Thank you to the many of you who took the time to share your thoughts on our parent survey. We appreciate your feedback on our strengths and the areas that we still need to work on. For those of you who have not answered the survey but would like to, the survey remains open until April 15th.
