August 2020
We are open face-to-face with limited capacity, and following strict CDC health and safety guidelines.
We will continue our water play days until Friday, August 14th. Please, remember to send your child dressed in their bathing suit, sunscreen applied, a towel, water shoes, and a change of clothes and a bag to take all of their wet items home in, all labeled on Fridays.
Thank you to all of you in helping us keep the spread of germs down. We appreciate your understanding in wearing your masks at drop off and pick up, waiting at the front for your child’s temperature to be taken, being patient at pick up while we get your child, keeping your child supplied with a mask, and packing your own lunches and snacks. This is a tough time for all of us and with your cooperation the children have adapted wonderfully and have taken everything in stride. We understand that you do not get to see your child’s teacher to ask questions about your child’s day or what’s going on in the classrooms. You can feel free to call at any time in order to speak with any of the teachers or a member of the office staff at any time to get information. We want you to feel as connected with the school as you did prior to the pandemic.
Our 2020-2021 school year starts on Monday, August 24th. VPK will commence on August 24th as well.
We will be hosting our drive-thru 2019-2020 VPK graduation on Friday, August 7th at 3:00pm. Children will be allowed to step out of the car for pictures and to receive their diploma. Parents are welcome to decorate their cars to join in celebrating their child’s graduation. We are all excited to see our beautiful children and celebrate this day with them. Please, remember to wear your masks and make sure your child has their mask on, or they will not be permitted to exit the vehicle.
We will be having a VPK information session on Saturday, August 8th at 4:00pm. Invites to the VPK info session will be going out to all who are signed up for VPK. We hope that you will be able to attend in order to get all of your questions answered.
If you are not ready to return for face-to-face schooling, we will be hosting a preschool Online Academy for children aged 2-4 years old. The children will be engaged online with teachers throughout the day. There will be breaks given for meals and rest time. This is different from our Distance Learning program that we implemented in March. For more questions about the Online Academy, contact the office at any time. Our current distance learning program will be ending on Friday, August 21st and the Online Academy will begin on August 31st with meet and greets and descriptions of the program. Classes will resume on September 9th. This is a great opportunity to extend your child’s learning while keeping them safe. Please, let us know if you are interested in our Online Academy.
Tuition is due on Friday before the week of attendance. If tuition is behind your child will not be permitted to attend. Late fees will be automatically applied to your account on Wednesdays of each week if you have a balance. Remember we accept cash, money order, check, auto-deduction at no extra cost to you and we do accept debit/credit cards with the VISA, MasterCard, and Discover logos but there is an additional 3% fee for using a card. WE DO NOT ACCEPT AMERICAN EXPRESS!!!!
Ice Cream Day will be every Friday. If you would like your child to have ice cream it’s $2 per child. You can pay in advance for the whole summer or pay each week. It’s a nice cool treat for the children to be able to cool off!!!
Remember if your child is going to be in VPK you will need to turn in your VPK certificate if you have not already done so. You can register by going to www.elcbroward.org. If you need any assistance in completing the application feel free to contact the office and we will help you in any way that we can. VPK hours are 9:30 am – 12:30 pm. Children may not be dropped off earlier than 9:20am and must be picked up no later than 12:40pm for VPK only. Wrap around children are permitted to attend during the full day 6:45am-6:15pm.
We will be hosting a Club Connect program this year. While, all Broward County Schools will be starting the school year off virtually, you will be able to send your child (K-3) to Chesterbrook Academy and we will assist your child in making sure they are logging on to their online schooling. We will have a communication log for each child to allow the parents to know what their child is doing throughout the school day. Parents are required to bring their children’s supplies and electronic device in order for them to participate in their school program. Spaces are limited so be sure to sign-up right away. Contact the front office for more information.
If your child, or anyone in the family tests positive for COVID-19, please notify the office immediately. If the school closes at any time because of COVID-19, families are still responsible to pay tuition during the closure period. If your child has to stay home to quarantine, but the school remains open, you are still required to pay your child’s tuition during the time that they are not attending.
Unfortunately, we are not offering any outside programs, or special events to come to the building at this time. That means no Dance, Amazing Athletes, Yoga, Soccer, or any of the special activities we do over the summer such as; career day, planetarium, magic show, petting zoo, fun fire truck, etc.
