Happy New Year!
Can you believe we are welcoming in 2020? How time surely flies and the planning for our second part of the school year is in full force. We thank you for all the many tokens of appreciation last month. Your generosity and thoughtfulness is surely special, and we appreciate all of our Chesterbrook families. We hope you made great holiday memories with your family!
Although colder days are here to stay, we do try to go outside for some fresh air provided temperatures are above 32 degrees. Please be sure your child has seasonal and appropriate sized clothing. Please label all of your child’s belongings including coats, gloves/mittens, and hats.

In addition to our newsletter the ‘For Parents’ section of our website also includes links to our menu and monthly calendar. We update these items frequently to ensure you’re always in the know. Though we send information through Links 2 Home, our calendar can be printed or even downloaded directly to your device. Our menu can be printed or saved for easy reference as well.
The days of winter are here and that means the possibility of inclement weather. Please be sure to tune in 6ABC (Look for Chesterbrook Academy~Arrandale) or watch your email for weather updates as we do not follow the local school district schedule. If there are changes in our operating schedule, we will send out an email and put a message on our school website.
Illness Policy:
Parents assist us in maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all our children by keeping sick
children at home. (Also listed in our Parent Handbook.) The purpose of our sick child policy is to:
• Reduce the spread of illness from a sick child to other children.
• Promote complete recuperation of the sick child.
• Prevent the constant spread of cold, flu and diarrhea that are so common among small children.
Parents must keep sick children at home until they have been symptom-free for at least 24 hours if
they display any of the following:
• Fever of 100 degrees or more. Children must be free of fever for at least 24 hours, unassisted by fever-reducing medication before returning to school.
• Vomiting
• Diarrhea
• Heavy nasal discharge requiring frequent wiping every 3-5 minutes
• Persistent, non-productive or “barking” cough
• Sore throat
• Fussy, cranky behavior unlike the child’s normal demeanor
• Skin rash, including diaper rash
• Head lice
• Symptoms of a communicable disease such as pink eye, measles, chicken pox, mumps, or strep throat
We reserve the right to refuse admittance to any student who shows a sign of illness. Children who
become ill at school will be made comfortable and parents will be notified to pick them up within one hour!
Looking Ahead:
We are open on Martin Luther King Jr. Day but are closed on Monday, February 17th for teacher in-service day. Please plan accordingly.
We wish you and your family a happy and healthy 2020!
