A Note From Our Principal
We hope that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with loved ones! We enjoyed celebrating with you all last month, as we gave thanks for each other, and gave from our hearts to those less fortunate than us. As the winter holidays approach we have many fun events planned for our students and families and look forward to spending time with you all. We’ve also enclosed important winter procedural reminders in this newsletter. Please read through it carefully and reach out if you have any questions or concerns. As we round out 2019, I wish each and every one of you a season filled with good health, happy moments, and fun family gatherings. As the mom of two “young adults” I want to remind you to make sure you schedule quality family time–your little ones truly grow up too fast! Happy Holidays!
Sincerely,
Lisa Fawver
Inclement Weather Reminders
We do not always follow the closure schedule of the local public schools because we don’t have to contend with the same transportation issues as public schools. Our goal is to be open as many days as possible to support our working parents. If we must close, or delay opening, because our teachers cannot safely get to work, you will receive a notification via Links 2 Home as soon as the closure is announced. We also post notifications on our website: centralnaperville.chesterbrookacademy.com.
Winter Clothing Reminder
If you’ve not already done so, please check your child’s cubby to ensure they have an extra set of weather appropriate clothes. Students also need to come to school each day with a jacket and dressed warm enough to play outside for part of the day. Please consider leaving boots, snow pants, gloves, a hat, etc. hanging in a bag under your child’s cubby, so you don’t have to worry about forgetting them daily. Even if the weather is brisk, we still go outside for active games and activities and want everyone to be able to participate! Remember, Fitness Fridays will continue throughout the winter. Remember: LABEL, LABEL, LABEL . . . everything with your child’s name!
Holiday Closures
Our school is closed on December 25th for Christmas and January 1st for New Year’s Day. We are also closed at 12:30 pm on Christmas Eve and on New Year’s Eve. If you plan on using the week of December 23rd as your vacation week, the deadline to turn in your written request is December 9th. If you want to use your vacation credit for the week of December 30, please turn in your request no later than December 16th. Remember, your child may not attend at all during your vacation credit week. Don’t miss the deadlines– we can’t make exceptions for late requests. Sign up sheets are posted outside classroom doors. Please sign up for the days your child will attend during those two weeks, so I can complete staffing plans and accept or deny teacher’s vacation requests. Those sign up sheets do NOT count as your formal vacation request.
Classroom Holiday Celebrations—Friday, December 2oth at 3:00 pm.
Throughout the month of December our classes will be learning about different winter traditions and customs. Each class will have a fun classroom party to celebrate the season. We hope to include different foods and holiday customs or games from around the world. Parents can sign up to share an item that is a holiday favorite from their family (store-bought, please) or join us to teach us a cultural game their family enjoys. All parents are welcome to attend. Please see sign up info in each classroom and check with your child’s teacher for more information.
