A Note From Our Principal,
We hope your children enjoyed their fun fall projects! This time at our preschool is filled with pumpkin carving, painting and seed roasting. Our Pre-K classes took a field trip to Abbey Farms in Aurora, and had a “spook-tacular” good time. Everyone had fun creating (and voting on) their favorite Halloween-themed classroom door. In spite of the SNOW on Halloween, our families joined us for an indoor Trick-or-Treating party. We all enjoy seeing each other’s Halloween costumes and getting silly with our friends. Thank you for allowing us to be part of these special occasions!
After such a busy October, are we going to slow down this month? No way! In November, we are focusing on gratitude and connecting with our community. We will host our annual Family Thanksgiving Feast on Friday, November 22nd from 5-6 pm. Save the Date! We make an authentic Thanksgiving dinner for you all as a way to thank you for being part of our preschool community. You don’t need to bring anything– other than an appetite. More info coming later.
We are also participating in Brookfield Zoo’s annual Trim a Tree event. We are sponsoring a BIG tree as a district, and will be decorating it on either Saturday, November 23rd or Sunday, November 24th. We’ll be sending out invitations soon.
Lastly, we are busily preparing for our Holiday Giving campaign. It’s important for every child to feel the joy of giving to someone less fortunate. As in years past, we have 25 under-served children we will be purchasing holiday gifts for, and leaving them wrapped under our Winter Tree. We will post each child’s sponsor card in the lobby during the week of November 4th and need all gifts back by Monday, December 2nd. Children love to go with you, read the “wish list” of their child, and help you pick out something special for them. I will send more info home November 4th.
Some other tid-bits this month:
- Join us in congratulating Ms. Shannon as she gets married on Friday, November 1st. Best wishes to Shannon and Kurtis for a long and happy life together!
- Don’t forget to set your clocks back one hour this Sunday, November 3rd. Who doesn’t love an extra hour of sleep?! Now you just have to convince your children who have those amazing inner clocks!
- We are CLOSED for Veteran’s Day, Monday, November 11th for our day of Professional Development. Please make other arrangements for child care.
- Thursday, November 14th is National Pajamas Day– wear your jammies to preschool (or work!)
- We have an Open House scheduled for prospective families on Sat. November 16th. Remember, if you refer someone who enrolls, you get one free week tuition after they have attended for three months.
This is the season to keep a close eye on your child’s health. Below is a reminder of our Illness Policy. Please keep these rules in mind in order to keep us all healthy. Have a wonderful (and healthy) November!
Sincerely,
Lisa Fawver, Principal
Illness Policy Reminder
Our parents are vital partners in helping us to maintain a safe and healthy environment for the students in our school. The most important thing you can do to assist us in creating a healthy environment is to keep your child home if they are ill. This reduces the spread of illness and allows your child to fully recuperate. Children may not attend school until they have been symptom free for 24 hours if they display any of the following:
- Fever of 100 degrees of more—must be fever free for 24 hours with no fever-reducing medicine before returning to school
- Vomiting, diarrhea or stomach upset
- Heavy nasal discharge requiring wiping every 3-5 minutes
- Persistent, non-productive or barking cough
- Sore throat
- Skin rash, including diaper rash
- Head lice
- Symptoms of a communicable disease
- Fussy, cranky behavior unlike child’s normal demeanor that may indicate illness

Sensory play is a wonderful opportunity for children to explore textures, sights and scents of the fall season. Multi-sensory experiences help children retain information better, build new skills, and develop a lifelong love of learning.
