Dear Parents,
I hope that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with loved ones! We enjoyed celebrating with you during our Family Thanksgiving Feast and Performance. As the winter holidays approach we have many special events planned for our students and families and look forward to spending time with you all. I’ve also listed important winter and holiday reminders in this newsletter. Please read through it carefully and reach out if you have any questions. Happy Holidays!
Inclement Weather Reminders
As hazardous weather happens, we make every effort to stay open. Our first priority is always the safety of our staff and families, so if it becomes evident that road conditions are bad, we might delay opening or even close for the day. A decision is always made by 5:30 am, if not earlier. If bad weather strikes during the day, on rare occasions we might close early. Our status is posted on our website, emailed and texted to all families. Just keep in mind that we do not always follow the closure schedule of the local public schools.
Winter Clothing Reminder
If you’ve not already done so, please check your child’s cubby to ensure they have an extra set of weather appropriate clothes. Students also need to come to school each day with a jacket and dressed warm enough to play outside for part of the day. If the weather is brisk we still go outside for active games and SPARK activities and want everyone to be able to participate!
Holiday Closures
Our school closes at 12:30 pm on December 24th for Christmas Eve, and is closed on December 25th for Christmas Day. We also close at 12:30 pm on New Year’s Eve and are closed January 1st for New Year’s Day.
Holiday Giving Project
We have adopted 25 local low-income children (all live in DuPage County) through the Humanitarian Service Project, a local, family-run non profit organization. If you are interested in purchasing gifts for a local child, please pick up his/her wish list at the front desk. All wrapped, new gifts need to be turned into the school by Wednesday, December 5th. Thanks in advance for your generosity!
Book Fair
The Scholastic Book Fair will run the week of November 26th through November 30th in the preschool lobby and hallway. All purchases must be made by credit card prior to close of business Friday November 30th. See Jen Callan for more info.
Parent Reports
Parents Reports will go home in your child’s End of Month Folders on November 30th. Please feel free to schedule a meeting or phone call with your child’s teacher if you have any questions.
Parent Night Out!
Back by popular demand– Parent Night Out will be held on Friday, December 7th from 7-10:30 pm. Get some shopping or wrapping done, or better yet, go out for a much-deserved grown up dinner. A flyer will be posted at the front desk as we get closer to that date. It’s a great way for our teachers to make some extra moo-la this time of year!
Have a wonderful holiday season and a New Year filled with blessings!
