It’s finally fall and we can’t wait to experience everything this season has to offer with our students and families. We are looking forward to taking the learning outside and are planning special hands-on learning activities in all of our classrooms. This month we have some amazing family events planned as well. We hope you can attend!
It’s hard to believe we have completed our first month of school! Please be sure you take a few moments out of your day, week, and month to review the “This is What We Learned Today” posted outside your child’s classroom from Infants through PreK 2. We encourage you to have your child show you one of their Student Learning Boards and initiate a conversation about some of the learning activities displayed. At the end of the month, you will receive a few samples of your child’s work from the month in their Links to Learning End of Month Folder, along with the skills that were covered and coming up in the month ahead. We also maintain a few samples for your child’s individual portfolio to show their growth and progression over the year.
September was a month full of learning that will continue into October. We will be talking about Community Helpers and Fire Safety at the beginning of the month. The Chalfont Fire Company will be visiting us on Thursday, October 11th. Our PreK 2 and Kindergarten students will be going on their first field trip of the school year to learn about farm life and harvesting crops, such as pumpkins on Thursday, October 18th! We will recreate our own “Pumpkin Patch” for our younger learners here at the school to enjoy on the 18th. We hope you are enjoying the use of our Links to Home application to extend and share the learning experience with each of our families.
Despite the unpredictability of fall weather we try to ensure that our students spend time outdoors each day. Please make sure your child has a jacket available and a weather appropriate change of clothes in their cubby at all times. We have many fun outdoor activities scheduled for this month and don’t want any of our students to miss out!
Classroom Pumpkin Contest
This year each of our classrooms is decorating a pumpkin to enter into a school-wide pumpkin contest. Each of our students will have an opportunity to participate in decorating the pumpkins. The pumpkins will be put on display in the lobby during the week of October 8th. We encourage you all to vote for your favorites! The winning class will get a special certificate for their door and have their pumpkin displayed on the front desk through the end of the month.
We will wrap-up the month with our annual Halloween Parade to New Seasons on Wednesday, October 31st. The event will take place in the afternoon around 4:00pm. (Time to be confirmed) Parents and siblings are welcome to join us for the short stroll to visit our “Grand Friends”. Our bi-annual Scholastic Book Fair will also arrive for the last week of the month – just in time for the holidays!
Don’t forget, our first teacher in-service day of the new school year is Tuesday, November 6th! Please start making alternative plans for your child. Thank you for your continued support of our efforts to provide quality professional development to our teachers.
Enjoy the sights and senses of the season!
Sincerely,
Ashton Merelli
