CONGRATULATIONS CHESTERBROOK ACADEMY KINDERGARTEN CLASS OF 2018!

June has arrived.  It is a month of graduation celebrations and end of the year festivities. The school year is ending, and we are entering summer camp mode.  We have some fun visitors, field trips and activities planned over these next few months.

This month we will be welcoming back some of our college student teachers to the classrooms as camp counselors and lifeguards. Please help us make them feel welcome by introducing yourself and welcoming them to our school.

As we start summer camp this month – please refer to the camp calendars daily to see what is occurring in your child’s classroom.   In conjunction with the teachers we have special days planned each month.  One big change to our camp calendar this year is that our older campers – Pre-K2 through 6th grade will go on a field trip every week.  I know many of them are excited about these adventures.   Also, we were able to increase the amount of pool time by a few minutes that each classroom has on a weekly basis.  At this point each classroom will have the opportunity to swim 3 days a week.  However, we ask that you please make sure their swimming apparel is here daily.  If there is an opportunity to make up for a missed swim day or have an extra swim day we will be jumping in the pool.

If you have not done so already – please make sure we are aware of your summer vacation.  We don’t want anyone to miss out on utilizing your vacation credit!  Please put your request in writing at least two weeks prior to the date of your vacation request to utilize your credit.

In-case you missed it on Tadpoles here is a quick message from our Executive Director, Donna Miller.

We would like to make you aware that our 2018-2019 parent handbooks are not ready to be distributed at this time.  They are in the final stages of editing and updating.  As a company we will be going through a nationwide process of being accredited by the National Association of Education for Young Children (NAEYC).  To comply with the standards of NAEYC, our handbooks needed to undergo some verbiage updating and edits.  We don’t anticipate any major changes within the handbook, and as always, the first page will be dedicated to highlight any changes from the previous year, so you can easily see the updates and changes.  Our goal is to have your renewal paperwork to you by the 11th of June.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.  We are very excited to move forward with accreditation and stay tuned for our updates on our school within the process of the NAEYC accreditation.

Don’t forget June 8th is our Hot Dogs with Dad (or our Special Guy).  The event will take place during your child’s lunch break.  Times will be posted on each classroom door, where visitors need to RSVP.

Don’t forget to leave extra time for yourself on June 15th to mingle with other families here at school while you are picking up.  We will be hosting our annual end of school event: Kona Water Ice will be here serving free water ice to all of our families.  Please stop by and enjoy some in our picnic grove or on the front lawn.  This is a great way to get to know other families who are here at school with us.

Sincerely,

Donna Baus, Principal
