Dear Parents,
Re-registration was a huge success! Thank you for taking advantage of our early bird period by securing your child’s space for the 2017/2018 school year. We are excited and thankful you have decided once again to choose Chesterbrook Academy for your child’s continuing education, and look forward to another year of watching your treasures grow in our care!
We are in the final stretch of our 2016/2017 school year, and it is clearly evident that our children are reaching new heights in development. Many of our students are working on higher level skills to meet their growing needs. That’s the beauty of our Links to Learning curriculum; it grows with your child. That said, student transitions to the next level will take place on June 6th after our VPK/Pre-K graduation. You will be notified in advance to prepare your child for what lies ahead.
Whew…we survived our five picture days! Thank you for your patience while we shifted classrooms and children around to accommodate our part-time and full-time families as well as sibling pictures. It’s not an easy task making sure everyone’s needs are met, but as far as I can tell, it looked like Lifetouch did a great job capturing all those beautiful faces. Portrait packages should arrive in about two weeks. Remember, you are not obligated to purchase pictures, but must return them.
Planning continues for our Pre-Kindergarten graduation ceremony. The date will be Monday, June 5th. Specific times for each classroom was sent home and also posted in our front lobby. Graduation will be held at the Port St. Lucie Community Center. Additional communication will follow as we get closer to graduation day. Due to the number of graduates this year, we have split our graduation ceremony into two-time frames. It will ensure seating for all family members and guests to attend. How exciting our graduating class of 2017!
You should have already turned in your order form and payment for a cap & gown or 2017 tassel. Orders must be placed as soon as possible to ensure delivery before graduation day. Please do not forget to email your child’s baby picture to Ms. Pezzullo: nicole.pezzullo@nlcinc.com.
Mark your calendar! On Friday, April 21st at 10:00am our students will participate in a hands-on learning experience about the environment as they release 6,000 ladybugs to commemorate Earth Day. It is never too early to start teaching children the importance of keeping our planet clean and learning how to reduce, reuse, and recycle. With a little guidance and supervision, children can get creative helping our earth. After all, small steps can lead to big changes. Our annual Earth Day Ladybug release program is a pest management initiative. Ladybugs eat other harmful pests like aphids and mealy bugs providing an earth-friendly way to maintain the ecosystem without using harsh chemicals. On release day each child will have an opportunity to explore their senses as they hold ladybugs and watch them fly off to do their part in helping planet earth stay healthy and green. The excitement the children will have in releasing these little ladybugs is a sight to see. What a great nature experience. Leading up to this event, students will explore, create, and learn about the life cycle of a ladybug. The children will also create polka dot ladybug hats or wings. Don’t forget your camera and stay tuned for our fun Earth Day display!

And, we also encourage you to take a few moments each week to review your child’s classroom Links to Learning “Parent Board,” so you can “Link” to your child’s early education experiences. Posted are “Weekly Skills,” “Lesson Plan,” “Daily Schedule,” “Monthly Spanish” and “Learning Outcomes.”
PARENT REQUIREMENT: Signing your child in and out daily is not only a licensing and company policy but, an added security measure, which ensures all children are accounted for while in our care. PLEASE, BE DILIGENT ABOUT RECORDING YOUR CHILD’S ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE TIMES. Thank you!
SICK POLICY:
The purpose of our sick policy is to reduce the spread of illness among our students and to encourage full recuperation of sick children before they return to school. We depend on parents to assist us in maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all of our children.
Children may be sent home if they have any concerning symptoms. Also, a child must be free of all of these symptoms for at least 24 hours before he/she can return to school. These symptoms include:
- A Fever of 100 degrees or more
- Vomiting within the previous 24-hour period
- Diarrhea within the previous 24-hour period
- Symptoms of a communicable disease
- Fussy, cranky behavior and not himself/ herself
Following an illness, a child may return to school once he/she has either been seen by a doctor or it has been determined that illness is not contagious. (A doctor’s clearance may be requested.) Please help us keep all of our children healthy by following these rules. If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know. Thank you for your support!
TUITION: Tuition is due the 1st business day of every month. Accounts not paid in full by 12:00 pm the fifth business day of every month will automatically receive a late fee of $25. ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS FEES: If your child is signed up to attend a specific enrichment program, the monthly fee must be paid in full the first week of every month, or your child may not attend the second week. Please understand, we are obligated to pay our physical fitness vendors promptly for their services. Credits will not be issued for missed classes due to absence or non-payment.
CATERED LUNCH PROGRAM ADVANCE ORDERING REQUIRED Monthly lunch order forms are available two weeks before each new month. Please be sure to turn your lunch order in with payment no later than the posted deadline. Late orders may not be honored. Pizza Friday orders for the entire month must also be turned in by the deadline. Ordering lunch is an optional service. You may also send lunch from home.
WE NEED YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT AND PATIENCE! PARKING – As many of you have experienced, finding a parking space between 8:45am & 9:15am and 11:45am & 12:15pm is quite challenging. We are asking families to please be considerate during drop-off and pick-up times by not parking in an area that is not a designated parking space. There is a field on the north side of the building that we have permission to use for parking. You are welcome to park there during drop-off and pick-up times. PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN FRONT OF THE DUMPSTER. The Port St. Lucie Police Department will periodically patrol our parking lot during peak hours and issue citations for any vehicles that are parked illegally. If you have any concerns, please report them to the administration. Thank you!
