Dear Parents,
Welcome to the many new families who have joined our school community since the new year! We appreciate that you have chosen Chesterbrook Academy for your child’s early education.
By the last week of February, parents whose children have been with us since the beginning of the school year should expect to receive a parent report. This form of lead teacher communication will provide you with a detailed account of how your child is progressing in all areas of development. Assessments also assist teachers in adjusting the level of instruction to meet individual needs. Once you review your parent report, you are welcome to schedule a parent/teacher conference if you would like to discuss your child’s development further. Just speak to the teacher. If you are new to Chesterbrook Academy, the next parent report will be sent home in May, right before the summer curriculum begins.
Can’t believe I am saying this, but Pre-K Parents, we are in the beginning stages of planning for our 2017 Pre-Kindergarten graduation ceremony and know you are anxiously waiting to hear when it will be. The date, location and exact time is yet to be determined, but we will inform you as soon as plans are final.
Traditionally, graduation preparation is a joint effort between teachers, students, parents and the administration. We look forward to working closely with you and enjoying this special milestone in your child’s life. Pre-K graduation updates will follow.
A special thank you to our Intermediate Parents, from classrooms #5 & #6. Thank you for registering your children for the 2017/2018 VPK program. We had an overwhelming show of new families during our January Open House leaving limited space. Our Kindergarten Readiness is 98%. The word on the street is Chesterbrook Academy is the place to be for VPK! We’re glad your children will continue to grow with us.
February will be a fun month; please continue to read below we don’t want you to miss a thing!
Sweetest regards,
Melinda Wiley, Principal
Nicole Pezzullo, Asst. Principal

You can expect to receive daily communication and pictures via email through our Links 2 Home program. And, we also encourage you to take a few moments each week to review your child’s classroom Links to Learning “Parent Board,” so you can “Link” to your child’s early education experiences. Posted are “Weekly Skills,” “Lesson Plan,” “Daily Schedule,” “Monthly Spanish” and “Learning Outcomes.”
PARENT REQUIREMENT:
Signing your child in and out daily is not only a licensing and company policy but, an added security measure, which ensures all children are accounted for while in our care. PLEASE, BE DILIGENT ABOUT RECORDING YOUR CHILD’S ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE TIMES. Thank you!
SICK POLICY:
The purpose of our sick policy is to reduce the spread of illness among our students and to encourage full recuperation of sick children before they return to school. We depend on parents to assist us in maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all of our children.
Children may be sent home if they have any concerning symptoms. Also, a child must be free of all of these symptoms for at least 24 hours before he/she can return to school. These symptoms include:
- A Fever of 100 degrees or more
- Vomiting within the previous 24-hour period
- Diarrhea within the previous 24-hour period
- Symptoms of a communicable disease
- Fussy, cranky behavior and not himself/ herself
Following an illness, a child may return to school once he/she has either been seen by a doctor or it has been determined that illness is not contagious. (A doctor’s clearance may be requested.) Please help us keep all of our children healthy by following these rules. If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know. Thank you for your support!

PARKING – As many of you have experienced, finding a parking space between 8:45am & 9:15am and 11:45am & 12:15pm is quite challenging. We are asking families to please be considerate during drop-off and pick-up times by not parking in an area that is not a designated parking space. There is a field on the north side of the building that we have permission to use for parking. You are welcome to park there during drop-off and pick-up times. PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN FRONT OF THE DUMPSTER.
The Port St. Lucie Police Department will periodically patrol our parking lot during peak hours and issue citations for any vehicles that are parked illegally.
If you have any concerns, please report them to the administration.
Thank you!
