Dear Chesterbrook Families,
Fall is officially here and our students are busy learning all about the changing seasons, exploring fall, pumpkins, apples, and fire safety and prevention. We cannot wait to see our students engaged in all of the exciting lessons that our teachers have planned for the month.
We are kicking off October with our Scholastic Book Fair this week. Throughout the month we will be wearing pink on Wednesdays to show support for Breast Cancer Awareness. We will have a Spirit Week during the week of October 21st. That week we will also be celebrating early literacy on Read for the Record Day on October 24th and throughout that week. Our classrooms will be having their fall parties on Thursday, October 31st. Please look for more information coming soon from your child’s teacher.
We are excited to again participate in Jumpstart’s Read for the Record – the world’s largest shared reading experience that celebrates and supports children’s early language and social-emotional development. Students will participate in activities throughout the week of October 21 inspired by the book, Piper Chen Sings, by Phillipa Soo and Maris Pasquale Doran. It is an inspiring story celebrating self-expression, family bonds, and conquering doubts. Keep an eye out for more details in Links to Home!
On Thursday, October 24th we will be hosting our annual Fall Festival from 5-7 p.m. at our school. There will be activities, games, food, and Trunk or Treating. We will be putting a sign-up sheet at the front desk for those of you who wish to decorate their trunk for the Trunk or Treat. If you wish to donate candy or treats, please drop off donations in the office. As a reminder, everything must be peanut free.
The CBA-Denver Parent Teacher Team will be collecting supplies for Hurricane Helene relief efforts. Donations will go directly to the Lincoln County Airport as part of Operation Air Drop or they will be transported by one of our parents who is actively delivering donations to affected areas. Supplies are being daily. Donation bins will be out until October 16th located beside Mrs. Kristie’s office.
With the change of season, this is a perfect time to take a moment to look through your child’s cubby and make sure that they have at least two weather appropriate changes of clothes. Also, rest items should be taken home weekly to be washed and returned on Mondays. We also know that this is a time when our students tend to get sick more often. As a reminder, if your child is sent home sick, they must remain out of school for 24 hours symptom free without medication.
We look forward to another amazing month and we appreciate all of the love and support that we receive daily from our families!
Sincerely,
Kristie Salmon
