Dear Parents,
The holiday season is in full swing here at Chesterbrook Academy. Your participation in our school activities has been amazing! Your generous donations towards our Thanksgiving food drive brought in wondrous results! House of Hope was excited to receive over 189 pounds of food and hygiene items. We are very grateful for your support and ongoing commitment to our Chesterbrook Academy community. YOU ROCK!
‘Tis the season for giving! Giving books as gifts helps to spread the love of reading and its culture, contributing to the rise in reading enthusiasm and culture. Starting Monday, November 27th you’re cordially invited to visit our Scholastic Book Fair until Friday, December 1st. The great display of journals, pop-up, sensory, and activity books will be in the lobby.
Did you know Toys for Tots was founded in 1947? Toys for Tots is a program run by the United States Marine Corps Reserve that distributes toys to children whose parents cannot afford to buy them gifts for Christmas. We kindly request your support in the form of new unopened toy donations. Your contribution will directly impact the lives of many families and bring smiles to their faces during this season.
It’s time to explore December celebrations, observances, and activities from many cultures. What is another name for St. Nicholas? What is a Menorah? What is a Karamu? The answers to these questions will be highlighted in December lessons that will cover multi-cultural holiday traditions. Be sure to check out the pictures, teachers will be sending home showcasing the classroom education boards to see evidence of learning fun! Speak to your child’s teacher if you would like to share a special tradition from your family with the class.
Fun Friday’s have been a huge success! December 1st is “Disney Day”, December 8th is “dress like your favorite celebrity”, December 13th is “wear holiday attire”, and December 29th, “wear your favorite color”. Stay tuned for exciting events coming up like our “Polar Express Pajama Party” on December 21st. This will be an exciting event where students come to school in their pajamas and enjoy hot cocoa and cookies.
Our teachers and students have been working hard for weeks and now it’s time to let parents know how their little ones are doing in your classroom. If you’re like most teachers, you have some great information to share with parents – academic achievements, social growth, and proud moments. You’ve kept detailed notes on each student and have the Growth Report/Family Reports are ready to go. We are looking forward to meeting with you.
The holiday season is not just about festive decorations and presents. It’s a time to reflect on the past year, learn about different traditions, and most importantly, instill a spirit of charity.
