A Note From Our Principal
We hope your children enjoyed their fall lessons, pumpkin themed activities and classroom celebrations last month. Seeing our students enjoy their Halloween costumes and fall attire is one of the highlights of the year for us. Thank you for allowing us to be part of these special occasions! This month we are focusing on gratitude and connecting with others. We have many special activities planned for our students and are looking forward to sharing photos with you all on Links 2 Home. As always, please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Candi
Fall Giving Partnerships
We are partnering with both Loaves and Fishes of Charlotte and Charlotte Mechanical.
For Loaves and Fishes, we are hosting a food drive for the community. Staff and Families are encouraged to drop off non-perishable foods that will be donated to the organization. Items will be collected outside of our classrooms in bins. The class with the most items donated will win a pizza party!
Also, we are collecting coats and cold weather items for our Annual Coat Drive with Charlotte Mechanical. We have a nifty bin in our front lobby and will have these items picked up to help keep Charlotte warm as the temperatures drops.
Thanksgiving Celebrations
We will host a “Family Friendly Fast Feast” Meal for our families on November 19th in place of our Annual Thanksgiving Family Feast. The meal will be packed in “To-Go” boxes and families can take home at pick-up. A sign up sheet will be provided.
November Celebrations
Native American Heritage Month
We celebrate Native American culture and that of indigenous peoples around the the country.
On Nov. 14, 1990, President George H. W. Bush declared the month of November as National American Indian Heritage Month to honor the hundreds of Native American tribes and people in the United States.
Diwali
Diwali, or Dipawali, is India‘s biggest and most important holiday of the year. The festival gets its name from the row (avali) of clay lamps (deepa) that Indians light outside their homes to symbolize the inner light that protects from spiritual darkness.
Hanukkah
Also known as the Festival of Lights or the Feast of Dedication, the holiday celebrates the rededication of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem following the Maccabean revolt against the Syrian-Greek army. The holiday takes place for eight nights and days, commemorating the rededication of the Holy Temple.
