Dear Parents,
Happy April and it’s finally Spring! As they say, “April Showers bring May Flowers”. This month have a plethora of learning experiences enticed with lots of fun as we celebrate the Week of the Young Child and Earth week, so be sure to stay up to date with your calendar of events. We are in the final stretch of our 2020/2021 school year, and it seems so cliché to say that this school year has absolutely flown by. It is evident that our children are reaching new heights in development. Many of our students are working on higher level skills to meet their growing needs. That’s the beauty of our Links to Learning curriculum; it grows with your child.
Summer is approaching, please let us know if you will take the summer off and return in the fall. We are accepting new enrollment for our Jr. Camp, School-Age camp, and K-Enrichment program. There are limited spaces remaining, but we always want to keep the children we already have enrolled. We are also scheduling in person tours and accepting new registrations for the upcoming academic school year.
Mark your calendar! On Thursday, April 22nd, our students will participate in a hands-on learning experience about the environment as they release 6,000 ladybugs to commemorate Earth Day. It is never too early to start teaching children the importance of keeping our planet clean and learning how to reduce, reuse, and recycle. With a little guidance and supervision, children can get creative helping our earth. After all, small steps can lead to big changes. Our annual Earth Day Ladybug release program is a pest management initiative. Ladybugs eat other harmful pests like aphids and mealy bugs providing an earth-friendly way to maintain the ecosystem without using harsh chemicals. On release day each child will have an opportunity to explore their senses as they hold ladybugs and watch them fly off to do their part in helping planet earth stay healthy and green. We can’t wait to see the excitement the children will have in releasing these little ladybugs. What a great nature experience for them! Leading up to this event, students will explore, create, and learn about the life cycle of a ladybug, create polka dot ladybug hats or wings, and use recyclable materials to create a school wide collage.
Learning does not end the moment you pick your child up from school, did you know that you as parents are helping your child expand their language, communication skills, and helping them be eager learners simply by reading a book to them, cooking together, going on a nature walk, blowing bubbles, the list goes on.
