A Note From Our Principal
Spring is here along with the nicer weather! This is a good time to think about changing out the extra clothing we have for your student. Is it weather appropriate and does it still fit? April will be a busy month. We have our Spring celebrations on April 2nd, Week of the Young Child April 12-16, and Earth Day celebrations with ladybug release on April 22 along with our typical days activities. We have also begun Summer and Fall enrollment. Please contact us with any questions on enrolling.
Sincerely,
Heather Hyland, Principal

Week of the Young Child
The National Association for the Education of Young Children, or NAECE, has “promoted high-quality early learning for all young children, birth through age 8, by connecting early childhood practice, policy, and research” since 1926. They have been celebrating along with their partners and schools (like Chesterbrook Academy) Week of the Young Child for 50 years this year! Week of the Young Child is a time to recommit ourselves as teachers, parents, and a community to “ensuring that each and every child experiences the type of early environment that will promote their early learning”.
Week of the Young Child, April 10-16
Music Monday: Singing and dancing help teach students early language skills while dancing helps with motor skills like balance and clapping. CBA students will be listening to children’s songs by Ella Jenkins. Ella Jenkins was the “First Lady” of children’s folk music.
Tasty Tuesday: Cooking with students helps connect to math, literacy, science, and more! CBA students will learn about healthy nutrition and fitness habits for healthy bodies.
Work Together Wednesday: When students work with others they not only are working on developing social skills, but are also building language skills (often math and science skills too)! CBA students will be exploring ramps with different sized balls.
Artsy Thursday: When we develop a child’s creativity they become more confident learners. When students participate in art projects they are working on fine motor skills, science skills, and math skills. CBA students will be learning about the famous artist Jackson Pollock and participating in splatter and drip painting.
Family Friday: Please send your child to school in pajama’s with their favorite stuffed animal. Students will participate in a “Stuffed Animal Parade”. We will be using the animals to practice math skills like sorting, counting, and graphing.
