A Note From Your Principal:
February is here and filled with many exciting events. It may be the shortest month of the year, but it is big on holidays!
We start off the month with Ground Hog’s Day and that question we all want answered. Is Spring right around the corner or are we facing six more weeks of Winter? What is your guess? The children will be taking a poll to report what they think will happen when Punxsutawney Phil steps out of his hole on Tuesday? Of course those who are loving snow, are also asking if we will get the big snowstorm that is being predicted for Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday!
Then we move into a series of Just for Fun Days. February 5 is Nutella Day. February 10th is Teddy Bear Day, so all children can bring a teddy bear to school with them. February 11th is Inventor’s Day. The children can talk about what their favorite invention is or they can create their own. February 12th will be the day we celebrate Valentine’s Day. February 15th school will be closed for Presidents’ Day and Teacher In-Service. February 17th is Random acts of Kindness Day. February 19th is Chocolate Mint Day-yum! February 23rd is Dog or Pet Appreciation Day. The children can bring a favorite stuffed animal to school. February 26th is Fairy Tale Day. The children are welcome to come dressed up or bring in a favorite book. We will also be celebrating Black History Month and many people who helped make a difference in our world.
February also gives us another reason to celebrate-the return to serving lunches all five days! I hope that puts a big smile on your faces and eases some of your morning stress. Menus were sent out to everyone, but please remember that it is also posted on our website if needed.
We also would like to thank everyone for being so accommodating when we had to adjust our times of operation. Beginning next week, we will start staying open until six o’clock for anyone who needs the additional time. Please let us know if you will be needing that later time so we can make schedule changes for our staff.
If your child is due for his/her well child check-up, please remember that we need a copy of each well visit and updated immunizations for your child’s file. We are getting ready for our next licensing visit, and that is one thing that is checked very carefully as well as the Emergency Contact Form Periodic Reviews and Enrollment paperwork. So if Ms. Chrissy or I hand you a form to complete that is missing from the file or just missing some information, please complete and return to us as soon as possible. We have an excellent rating of compliance, and we really would like to keep it that way. Of course we have all of you to thank for that rating because you have always been so wonderful about making sure the required forms are returned timely and completed accurately. Thank you!
Parents, we love seeing you and want to be able to catch up with you on so many things, but the car line is not the place we can do that for obvious reasons. If you have a question about your child’s progress, please feel free to write your child’s teacher a note and/or request a phone conference. None of us mind doing that for you. The conversation would then be more confidential and focused than what can be said in a few minutes outside. The conversation would also not have to be so rushed. It is difficult to concentrate when others are waiting in line and may be in a hurry. Thank you for your understanding.
