Pumpkin spice is in the air!! The school year is flying by so fast already. We are almost already a quarter of the way through the school year! We have a lot of events coming up these next few months, so make sure to keep your calendar updated!!
Picture day is coming soon. Pictures will be taken from October 5th-7th. You MUST have a signed permission form for your child’s picture to be taken this year. Infants and toddlers will be taken on Monday, October 5th, Beginners and Intermediates will be taken on Tuesday, October 6th and VPK and School Age will be on Wednesday, October 7th. See picture forms for all safety protocols that will be followed.
The week of October 5th is Fire Prevention Week. We will be scheduling a visit from the Sunrise Fire Department to educate the VPK children on Fire Safety and allow the children to see the fire truck up close. We will only be scheduling the presentation with the VPK children, since we are keeping children separate and socially distancing we will not be able to accommodate all ages. If time allows the younger classes will be able to come out one by one to see the truck but we will not be allowing children to enter the truck or interact with the equipment as we have in the past years.
Our next Wacky Wednesday will be on Wednesday, October 14th. We will be doing Wacky Wednesday!!! Come dressed as wacky as you can. You can do wacky hair, wacky clothes, mismatched clothes, the possibilities are endless.
Don’t forget, every Friday is ICE CREAM DAY!!! I scream, you scream, we all scream for… Ice Cream!!! $2 in the front office. Your child gets to pick which ice cream they want from the ice cream cart. It’s our favorite day of the week. Cash only. You can pay in advance for as many weeks as you like.
We will be hosting a car seat safety inspection, provided by the Sunrise Police Department, on Tuesday, December 1st from 3:30pm-7pm. You can bring your car by during these times and they will check to ensure that your car seat is installed properly in order to maximize effectiveness. We will be offering Car Seat Safety inspections every three months to help ensure the safety of our children. There is no charge for this service.
Join us for the Jumpstart’s Read for the Record®, a global campaign that generates public support for high-quality early learning and highlights the importance of building children’s vocabulary and love for reading. On Thursday, October 29th, children and adults worldwide will take action by participating in the world’s largest shared reading experience.
This years’ book is Evelyn Del Rey is Moving Away. From Newbery Medalist Meg Medina comes the bittersweet story of two girls who will always be each other’s número uno, even though one is moving away.
A big truck with its mouth wide open is parked at the curb, ready to gobble up Evelyn’s mirror with the stickers around the edge . . . and the sofa that we bounce on to get to the moon.
Evelyn Del Rey is Daniela’s best friend. They do everything together and even live in twin apartments across the street from each other: Daniela with her mami and hamster, and Evelyn with her mami, papi, and cat. But not after today—not after Evelyn moves away. Until then, the girls play amid the moving boxes until it’s time to say goodbye, making promises to keep in touch, because they know that their friendship will always be special. The tenderness of Meg Medina’s beautifully written story about friendship and change is balanced by Sonia Sánchez’s colorful and vibrant depictions of the girls’ urban neighborhood.
There will be no VPK on Monday, October 19th. All other classes will run as normally scheduled on these days. All full time children are permitted to attend as usual.
We will be having class Halloween parties on Friday, October 30th. We will be wearing our Halloween themed pajamas and having parties in each classroom. There will be sign ups for treats that will go out through email, closer to the time of the parties. We would love to be able to invite families but we are still unable to at this time. We will take extra pictures to send through Tadpoles so you can see the fun times!!!
We will be closed on Wednesday, November 11th in observance of Veteran’s Day. Teacher’s will be attending Professional Development this day. Chesterbrook Academy will also be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 26th.
