A Note From Our Principal,
July was a great month of summer learning and fun, and August has been so busy getting ready for the new school year, I am late getting this newsletter finished– oops!
Thank you all for your participation in our Kids Helping Communities initiative this summer! We are so grateful to all our families who donated children’s gifts to the Ann and Robert Lurie Children’s Hospital. As of today, we have donated more than 120 toys and children’s activities . . . and counting! I will send out an update when we get the grand total. We love the chance to give back to our communities and help children in need.
We only have a short bit of summer camp left, and our teachers are hard at work preparing our classrooms for the new school year. We are excited to see more of our friends return to school! In addition, we are thrilled to be able to offer Club Connect, a full-day option for our school-age students to continue their elementary school lessons, with supervision from our staff. Please click on this link for more information: Club Connect Info Flyer.
In order to limit the spread of germs, we are still unable to welcome visitors and parents into our building. Therefore, we can’t host our annual Ice Cream Social this year. Instead, we will be hosting virtual classroom orientation meetings, via zoom, during the week of August 17-21. Prior to these meetings, which will be scheduled during the day, we will email each class’s orientation packet, which the teacher will go over during the call. Parents can ask questions, and teachers can meet new families. Times for these calls, as well as log in info, will be sent out soon.
In addition, each teacher will create a short (no more than 5 minute) video to send to her students. She will give a virtual tour of her classroom, explain some of our classroom rules, and read a short story. This will be a great way for her to break the ice and get kids excited about returning.
In the meantime, we are having a blast enjoying the last few weeks of summer! Hope you are too!
Sincerely,
Lisa Fawver, Principal
Summer Camp Survey
We will be reaching out to camp families in the next few weeks to gather feedback on our summer camp program. The survey will be sent via email and we’d love for all camp parents to participate so we can celebrate our successes and make plans to improve our camp program next summer. Please keep an eye out for the survey!
End of Summer Classroom Carnival
On August 19th, students will be celebrating the end of summer with carnival games, music, themed crafts and an afternoon treat in their assigned classrooms. Please encourage your child to wear their tie-dyed shirt we made earlier this summer, or any bright-colored shirt. We will take lots of photos of each class and distribute them through the Links 2 Home app.
Links 2 Home
If you’re not currently receiving photos and daily reports for your child you can easily change this by downloading the Links 2 Home app on your phone. Just type ‘Links 2 Home’ in the search bar for the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. After downloading Links 2 Home you can register with the same email address that you used to enroll your child in our school.
