Dear Parents,
October was a fun and busy month! All classrooms created fun seasonal projects, learned about fire safety and enjoyed our school Halloween parade and parties. Our most popular annual event, Trunk or Treat was a hit! Wow…what a turn-out! The weather was great, your costumes and trunk decorations were fabulously creative, and everyone seemed to be having a great time! It was so nice to see our Chesterbrook families and kids having fun together on this festive evening. Thank you very much for being so generous, your enthusiastic participation in our seasonal events is very much appreciated.
The next big school event will be our “Thanksgiving Feast” on Friday, November 22nd. We sure have a lot to be thankful for this year. Along with planning for their bountiful feast, the children will learn the meaning of giving through theme related activities, which includes a “Canned Food Drive.” This year we are partnering with the House of Hope to help those less fortunate in our area. Beginning Monday, November 1st you will see a drop-off box for non-perishable food items. Donations will be delivered to House of Hope on Monday, November 25th by our elementary after school children. What a great learning experience this will be for our elementary age kids!
Our teachers are enthusiastic about developing lifelong learners. They genuinely care about children and have the sensitivity and knowledge to understand a child’s individual developmental needs and learning styles. They take the time to help each child discover, in his or her way, a fascinating world of learning through play.
We help our teachers keep current with the latest techniques by sponsoring professional development days. Our teachers are trained by internal and external consultants through hands on workshops. Each staff member is required by the state of Florida to accomplish ten or more hours of training each year. Chesterbrook Academy closes its doors twice a year for professional development. We chose Veteran’s Day, 11/11 as our training day because public schools, banks, and government offices will be closed; therefore closing would negatively affect fewer families. We look forward to sharing learning experiences with other dedicated Chesterbrook Academy teachers in Florida and appreciate your support as we empower our teachers to better meet the needs of your children.
Happy Thanksgiving,
Jami Melnick, Principal
Laura Ward, Assistant Principal
