A Note From Our Principal
Summer has come to an end and another school year is upon us. We’d like to extend a warm welcome to our new families, and a sincere thank you to returning families and those that chose to spend their summer with us. We enjoyed making memories with your children!
We had a very wonderful summer here at Chesterbrook Academy. Thank you for completing your online weekly camp surveys and providing us with feedback. The summer for us went by very fast and we learned that not only the children appreciated the activities and field trips, the teachers loved them too. And you as parents, appreciated the fact that your children came home tired and full of great camp memories and stories from their busy day.
All of our college teachers have left us and have returned to their dorm rooms. We will be seeing them periodically thorough out the year, during holiday breaks. Miss Aubrey, one of our lifeguards did stay on with us full time, and we are hoping to use her amazing musical talents to help our teachers prepare for the holiday show. (Yes, we have already started the holiday show thoughts.)
During the month of September, we will have picture day September 9th and 10th. As you may recall our picture day system has changed. You now will receive a proof sheet the same day your child is photographed. How exciting is that! No more waiting to see how they did. On the proof sheet you will be provided all the information to purchase the photos and packages of your choice. Photos can only be purchased online.
We have added several more special days throughout the school year. Please visit our school calendar on our website to keep current with the upcoming special days and events. We have also scheduled e-mails to go out through Links to Home and as always, our teachers will assist in keeping you current with items on your child’s daily sheets and classroom doors.
Everyone loves a great birthday treat! Please do not forget if your child will be celebrating their birthday at school with a special snack to share with their friends, we ask that you let the teachers know as soon as possible, so we can obtain permission from the other children’s parents, prior to serving the snack.
Thank you to the PTO for the wonderful 2nd Annual End of Summer Picnic. The socialization, interactions and community spirit was alive and empowering. We ask that you please consider joining the PTO monthly meetings and supporting this group of parents. Their dedication and devotion is not just to our school, but each individual child and family in our school community.
We recognize that this is a busy time for many families and are using this month’s school newsletter to include reminders on school closures, communication, security and more. Please read through this newsletter carefully and let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Donna Baus, Principal
