From the Office of the Principal
The summer is almost over, which means that before we know it, it will be Back-to-School time! We hope everyone is having a wonderful summer so far. We’ve had lots of summer activities for the preschoolers and field trips for the school-agers in the month of July, and they will only continue throughout the month of August. Let’s first recap July though… we hope everyone had a wonderful Independence Day holiday. The preschoolers enjoyed water play days throughout the month, a visit from Hightouch Hightech science experiments where they made a crazy chemical concotion, enjoyed Kona Ice on Wednesdays, made their own milk chocolate with Chocolate Bar in a Car, enjoyed a visit from CMPD Officer Rubino, and more! The school-agers got to go on field trips to Cici’s Pizza, Mecklenburg County Library, the Bud Schiele Museum, Discovery Place Nature, Sports Connection, Regal Cinemas at Stonecrest, High Seas Putt Putt Golf Park, and Farley’s Pizza!
August is shaping up to be a busy month as well with plenty of activities for the children during the month! The preschoolers will enjoy water play days every week, Hightouch Hightech science experiments, Kona Ice, Fish the Magish Magic Show, a show from Zootastic Zoo Park, and much more! The school-agers will get to go on field trips to Kate’s Skating Rink, Mecklenburg County Library, Extreme Ice, Cici’s Pizza, Laser Tag at Sports Connection, Crooked Creek Water Park, Regal Cinemas at Stonecrest, and Flour Power! Finally, Links to Learning folders go home on Friday, August 30, and September will start the new school year!
With the new school year coming up, please keep a look out for more information regarding week-long transitions into new classrooms during the week of August 26-30. Once transitions are over, the Links to Learning curriculum will be implemented in full in your child’s new classroom. You will receive a Links to Learning Parent Folder in the end of every month, which will provide you will lots of information, including monthly skill sheets that detail concepts and skills your child has learned in the previous month, samples of your child’s work, as well as a monthly snapshot previewing skills for the upcoming month and providing suggestions for fun activities at home that reinforce the teaching in the classroom. This folder is in addition to the information you will see every day on the Links to Learning Parent Board outside your child’s classroom. The board will detail skills taught that week, includes the weekly lesson plan, daily skills, Learning Outcomes for the classroom’s age group, the month’s Spanish words (for Beginner and older classrooms). For additional information on the Links to Learning curriculum, please click here. If you would like to schedule a conference with your child’s teacher as the new year starts, please let one of us know.
As always, we will always be here to help you in any way possible if you have any questions or concerns.

If there’s one thing parents love to do, it’s talk about their children’s successes. When friends ask you about your child’s experiences at Chesterbrook Academy, what type of success stories do you share? Do you mention the personal and educational discoveries your child is making thanks to our advanced curriculum? Do you talk about the new levels of self and social confidence your child has gained thanks to our encouraging atmosphere? Whatever glowing reports you deliver about how your child is growing with his or her education, we couldn’t be more appreciative. In fact, we’d like to show you just how thankful we are for your endorsements. Now when you tell other parents about our school, you can become a Chesterbrook Academy Ambassador.
For every new child you refer who enrolls at our school for three months, you’ll receive one FREE week of tuition for your child.
