Happy April Chesterbrook Academy Families! April is here and as the season changes to reflect warmer weather and new life budding, we are excited to see the changes blossoming within our classrooms with our budding learners. As spring blooms around us students will have the opportunity to explore sequence of events. Students will learn how a seed becomes a flower, how an egg hatches into bird, how a tadpole becomes a frog and how a bunny becomes a rabbit. We will also learn how “April showers bring May flowers,” as students experiment with watering plants to see the effects the water has on the seeds and flowers.
In April we also celebrate the “Week of the Young Child” April 8th-12th! It is a time to celebrate young children, early learning, teachers and families. Throughout the week teachers will engage students in fun learning activities, science explorations, arts and crafts and sensory experiences. Our schedule for the “Week of the Young Child” is as follows:
April 8th Music Monday – Students will participate in musical activities including playing with instruments, creating beats and rhythms and dancing to various kinds of music from around the world!
April 9th Tasty Tuesday – Students will learn about healthy eating and fitness at home and school. Students will work together to make a special snack for the afternoon!
April 10th Work Together Wednesday – Students will build science and math skills as they work together to build and create.
April 11th Artsy Thursday – Students will use various art materials to create a special project!
April 12th Family Friday – Join us at 4 pm to create a masterpiece with your child and enjoy a special snack.
Our annual lady bug release in honor of Earth Day will be Monday, April 22nd at 10 am! Join us as we release over 1,500 ladybugs outside!
Sincerely,
Mary Ellen
