A Note From Our Principal,
Brrr! The chill in the air has finally arrived. Please remember while it is a bit chilly outside we are required to take the children outdoors daily when the weather conditions permit or are favorable. We ask that each day your child comes to school they are prepared for outdoor play. The guidelines we follow are:
Weather Conditions for Outdoor Play
Children are required to go outside daily.
Unless one or more of the following conditions apply
- The wind chill factor is 25 degrees or less.
- The temperature is 25 degrees or less.
- The heat index is 90 degrees or more.
- The temperature is 90 degrees or more.
- There is precipitation (other than snow) falling.
- There is an air quality alert or advisory recommending that children stay indoors.
If your child is not feeling well or you feel that they cannot participate in outdoor activities, we ask that you please keep them home, because they most likely will not be feeling up to participating in indoor activities.
On Monday February 4 – you will receive information in your child’s mailbox pertaining to our Yankee Candle Fundraiser. What better way to warm up these warm days with a great smelling candle. Orders can be placed online or by returning your order form to the school. If you have friends and family that are not close – you can send them a online link and they can purchase from the fundraiser to support our school. While we need all forms back by February 19th. Any on-line purchases made until July through the website will give our school credit.
The Sweet Heart Dance will be hosted at our old Chesterbrook Academy Elementary School in Oaks, same place as last year! The PTO is finalizing the tickets and preparing them to go on sale. Mark your calendars for Friday February 15th! More information to come soon! We are expecting to see lots of grooving and dancing going on!
Please don’t forget that we are closed on Monday February 18, 2019 for our Staff In-service Day. This year the teachers will have a chance to work in their classrooms, participate in Links to Learning curriculum training, and collaborate with each other. It should be a fun filled busy day for all of us!
In the past we have asked that each of you complete a Parent Survey. Our Survey process has changed this year and random parents are getting the survey two times a year. Please keep your eyes peeled in your e-mail for this survey opportunity. We love to hear your feedback and can only grow and meet more of your needs with this feedback.
Summer Camp planning and the 2019-2020 School Year Planning has started! We currently are introducing our Pre-K and Pre-K2 students who will be eligible for Kindergarten in the Fall, to our Kindergarten classroom. Please watch your child’s mailbox closely this month for more information pertaining to re-enrollment and summer camp.
Please be careful in our parking lot! Each day we see cars coming and going a little faster than we feel necessary or comfortable with. We are also still seeing children left in the cars while they are running. We ask that you please refrain from doing this. We understand that mornings are hectic and can be a bit rushed, but please consider the safety. Again – please be careful, slow down and watch out for those around you.
What we love most about our school is the people we share it with!
Have a great month of February!
