Dear Parents,
The holiday season is in full swing here at our Port Saint Lucie school. Your participation in our school activities has been amazing! Due to your support during Trunk or Treat, the school was able to purchase ten new tricycles for our playgrounds and your generous donations towards our food drive during our Thanksgiving feast and parade brought in wondrous results! The Elementary Camp students took the donations to The Treasure Coast Food Bank and they were impressed that we collected 505 pounds of food which provided 421 meals! The camp students were also on the news! We are very grateful for your support and ongoing commitment to our Chesterbrook Academy community. YOU ROCK!
‘Tis the season for giving! We would like to continue reaching out to our community this month as well. Beginning December 3rd please donate new or gently used pajamas to the lobby. These pajamas will be donated to the Treasure Coast Foster Closet in Stuart. This will be our second year contributing to this non-profit organization who assists families who foster children by allowing them to collect the items needed when bringing foster children into their homes. The Foster Closet was very grateful last year when we donated nearly 80 sets of pajamas, a clothing item that is not a popular donation to the closet but greatly needed! I know we can bring in more this year, we’ve got this!
It’s time to explore December celebrations, observances, and activities from many cultures. What is another name for St. Nicholas? What is a Menorah? What is a Karamu? The answers to these questions will be highlighted in December lessons that will cover multi-cultural holiday traditions. Be sure to check out classroom education boards in and outside of your child’s classroom to see evidence of learning fun! Speak to your child’s teacher if you would like to share a special tradition from your family with the class.
Stay tuned for exciting events coming up like our “Pajama Party Breakfast and Book Exchange!” This has become an exciting annual event where students come to school in their pajamas and enjoy breakfast foods. Children are able to bring in one wrapped book to exchange with a classmate and one unwrapped book for the classroom library. The students enjoy seeing the books their classmates receive and a stocked library with books from their peers!
