Dear Parents,
October was a fun and busy month! Our students enjoyed fun seasonal projects, carved and decorated pumpkins, learned about fire safety and enjoyed our school Halloween parade and parties. Our most popular annual event, Trunk or Treat was a hit! Wow…what a turn-out! Your costumes and trunk decorations were fabulously creative, and everyone seemed to be having a great time! It was so nice to see our Chesterbrook families and kids having fun together on this festive evening. Thank you very much for being so generous, your enthusiastic participation in our seasonal events is very much appreciated.
The next big school event will be our “Thanksgiving Feast” on Tuesday, November 20th. We sure have a lot to be thankful for this year, so along with planning for their bountiful feast, the children will learn the meaning of giving through theme related activities, which includes a “Canned Food Drive.” This year we are partnering with a local Food Bank to help those less fortunate in our county. Beginning Wednesday, November 7th you will see a drop-off box for non-perishable food items. Donations will be delivered to the food bank on Friday, November 16th. What a great learning experience for young children!
Our teachers are enthusiastic about developing lifelong learners. They genuinely care about children and have the sensitivity and knowledge to understand a child’s individual developmental needs and learning styles. They take the time to help each child discover, in his or her way, a fascinating world of learning and play.
We help our teachers keep current with the latest techniques by sponsoring professional development where internal and external trainers and consultants lead our workshops. Each staff member is required by the state of Florida to accomplish ten or more hours of training each year. Chesterbrook Academy closes its doors twice a year for professional development. We chose Veteran’s Day, 11/12 and President’s Day 2/18 as our training days because public schools, banks, and government offices being closed; therefore closing would negatively affect fewer families. We look forward to sharing learning experiences with other dedicated Chesterbrook Academy teachers in Florida and appreciate your support as we empower our teachers to meet the needs of your children better.
Happy Thanksgiving,
Kim Hage, Principal
