Happy summer!! Everyone is so excited for the warm weather and fun activities that will be coming up with summer camp! Please make sure your children have weather appropriate clothing in their cubbies, closed toe shoes on their feet, and sunscreen handed in to their teachers along with the sunscreen forms filled out.
Junior campers- (infant-intermediate classrooms) will be going in the sprinklers out back on Monday and Thursday throughout the summer. They will need a swimsuit, water shoes, and a towel.
Senior campers will be going to the pool on Monday’s throughout the summer starting on June 25th, and will also be participating in splash day throughout the summer on Monday when they are not at the pool as well as every Thursday. The senior campers will need a coastguard approved swim device for the pool along with a towel, water shoes, and sunscreen. On splash days, they will need water shoes, a swimsuit, and a towel. If you have a senior camper (PreK1, PreK2, and Kindergarten), please take a copy of the camp calendar. Please make note of times that students will need to be here for trip days- THE BUS WILL NOT WAIT. On trip days, students will need to have a packed lunch and will need to be wearing the camp shirt (it will be provided and coming soon).
Here is your survival guide to camp (SENIOR CAMPERS PreK1, PreK2, and Kindergarten):
Monday – We swim and we walk to the pool. Each swimmer needs their own towel and swimsuit- no swimsuit, no swimming! We swim in the shallow end of the big pool. You must provide your own swim vest/puddle jumper which needs to be coastguard approved. We strongly recommend water shoes. The bottom of the pool has a rough surface. Make sure your child’s name is on everything. We also suggest that the girls have their hair pulled back in a ponytail for swim days. Lunch is served at school on pool days.
Tuesday -Someone special comes to school. Check your summer schedule for our weekly visitor. Lunch is served at school. **THERE IS ONE TRIP ON TUESDAY- 8/14- Newtown Theatre**
Wednesday & Friday – These are usually our trip days (Be sure to check the calendar). Each camper needs a camp shirt and a lunch for each trip. Please put lunches in an insulated lunch box with an ice pack and water bottle. Remember no peanut products are allowed, including peanut butter & jelly sandwiches. Campers must wear sneakers on all trips. Check the permission slip on the classroom door for the time campers need to be at school for each trip. In order for your child to go on the trip, the permission form must be signed. These papers will be hanging on the classroom door at the end of each week prior to next week’s trip. We have a chaperone sign-up sheet- if you would like to chaperone, you MUST have all three required clearances on file.
Thursday – We will have water play at Chesterbrook. Each camper needs to bring a bathing suit, water shoes and a towel. Lunch is served at school.
*Please note- We would like to make you aware that our 2018-2019 parent handbooks are not ready to be distributed at this time. They are in the final stages of editing and updating. As a company we will be going through a nationwide process of being accredited by the National Association of Education for Young Children (NAEYC). In order to comply with the standards of NAEYC, our handbooks needed to undergo some verbiage updating and edits. We don’t anticipate any major changes within the handbook, and as always, the first page will be dedicated to highlight any changes from the previous year, so you can easily see the updates and changes. Our goal is to have your renewal paperwork to you by the 11th of June. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We are very excited to move forward with accreditation and stay tuned for our updates on our school within the process of the NAEYC accreditation.
Just a few reminders:
*Please do not give out the keypad code to the front door- we want to be sure we are ID’ing alternate pick-ups.
*Please do not leave your car running in the parking lot, and abide by the 5mph rule.
*Please make sure to check your child’s cubby to make sure they have weather appropriate spare clothing.
