May News
Happy Mother’s Day! To all the wonderful mother’s in our school and who are an inspiration to our students and staff.
The month of May brings forth more celebrations to those who are important in our school community. Next week (May 7-11) we are enjoying Teacher Appreciation Week. As I look around the school and those who work within our school it is with great pride that I see how much everyone devotes their energy, time and passion for the children in each classroom. We were recently visited by the several representatives from the Education Department of Nobel Learning Communities, Inc., for NAEYC collaboration. The positive accolades that were put forth from these upper management representatives was a great inspiration for all of us However, we did learn that our classrooms have an over abundance of toys and learning materials within each structure. In the next few weeks, you will see your child’s classroom go through a transformation. We will be reducing the number of toys on the shelves, adding new signage, and adding some enhancements to the classrooms.
Don’t forget about our PIZZA Luncheon with our Favorite Lady on Friday May 11th. We know it is difficult for some of you to leave work during the middle of the day to attend these events. We are sorry about this. When we plan events like this we always try to vary the times of the day as to include everyone’s varying schedules. I know as a parent it is important for you to feel your child has someone in participation, so they are not left out, that is one of the reasons we have extended the invite to our Favorite Lady. We have seen grandmothers, aunts, neighbors, friends, cousins, etc. attend these events.
All the teachers have been working very diligently on their NAEYC Classroom Portfolio’s. This is a very time-consuming task that has taken several weeks of their extra time and dedication to showcase their classrooms. We will be handing our portfolios into the education team at Nobel Learning Communities, Inc. by the end of this month, and the next process will be awaiting NAEYC specialists to come visit us for the final steps of accreditation. We will keep you posted on how we as a school are progressing. Again, a huge thank you to the PTO for putting together a continental breakfast for our staff in honor of the half way point with the NAEYC portfolios. It was greatly received, and the PTO could not have done this for our staff without the support of you as parents and their fundraising efforts.
During the month of April, we had a member of the Philadelphia FBI attend our staff meeting to discuss and educate our teachers on Intruder Safety and Intruder Awareness. This training was very eye opening to our staff and we all feel a bit more comfortable in are awareness, expectations and surroundings. I am hoping to work with the Limerick Police Department more closely on a plan that we put in place with their department that provides a cohesive collaboration in the even to an emergency.
Each day I come to school, I am eager to see what awaits me and what I will learn from the children. I am grateful for the dedication and devotion that you have towards our school community I am truly grateful to be a part of such a successful school. As a token of our appreciation to you as a parent we will be hosting our annual Parent Appreciation Week May 14th – 18th. We hope you enjoy the special daily events we have planned for you!
During the week of May 14th –May 21st – I will be away on vacation. Please feel free to contact another member of the management team if you have any questions or concerns in my absence.
Have a great month of May!
