Dear Chesterbrook Academy Families,
Tis the season to give thanks, spread joy and embrace love from family and friends! Thank you all for participating in our fall activities and events last month. December will again be another busy month for us with festive events, celebrations, holiday giving activities and winter break camp for returning school-agers.
This month we celebrate Ms. Amanda as our Teacher of the Month. Ms. Amanda is one of our floaters and assists our teachers in almost every classroom. Ms. Amanda is always engaged with the students and makes it a priority to connect with each child and their families. Her flexibility and care for our students shows in everything she does. Congratulations Ms. Amanda!
Winter Ball: We are hosting our first Winter Ball on Saturday, December 16th from 2:00-5:00pm. Students will have a full on dance party and winter activities will be provided. All are invited; come dressed to impress!
Throughout the month we will be partnering with various charities and programs for holiday giving activities. Starting December 5th we will begin our season of giving with our Giving Tree project. Classrooms will be reading the story, The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein and discussing how we can help others in our community through charitable contributions. Below are descriptions of and important dates.
Un-Trim -A Tree: We will be collecting items for senior gift baskets through Friday, December 15th
Ronald McDonald House Donations: In October some of the staff accompanied me to the RMDH to cook breakfast for the guests. During our visit we were able to tour the facility and learned that they collect donations of items that allow the families to stay stress and worry free, while they focus on their children who are receiving medical care at local hospitals. The items they are in urgent need of are paper towels, laundry detergent , disinfecting wipes, and copy paper. We will be collecting these items through Friday, December 22nd. You can find additional items on their Amazon wish list, https://www.amazon.com/registry/wishlist/2AID62F4IAHNQ/?_encoding=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&linkCode=ur2&tag=affinityrmhc-20&linkId=DROHEK7YR3RTGBPA
Toys for Tots: We will be partnering with our sister schools to collect and deliver new, unwrapped toys to a local Toys for Tots facility. Further information on the donation deadline will be provided at a later date.
Coat Drive: We will be collecting gently used coats for children and adults to be donated through January 2018.
