Fall brings exciting times as our teachers are all eager for a fresh start and a class of eager learners to start off the 2017-2018 school year. The past few months of Summer Camp were wonderful! The culminating events of Cradles to Crayon’s and Color Wars truly showed what a great group of campers we had! And yes it is true….myself, along with Miss Rebecca and Miss Melanie spent some time in the dunk tank at Color Wars…the children were all very eager to dunk us! Thank you for a great summer and supporting the Cradles to Crayons efforts!
On Monday, September 4th we are closed to Observe Labor Day! However, on Tuesday September 5th we are coming back to our new school year! Children who are transferring to a new classroom will start in that room on this day! It is a day of excitement, apprehension and sometimes tears.
As a school this year we will be hosting monthly events that help our organizations who provide for those in need. We are not asking you to support financially, but have tried creating events or challenges throughout the year that will get the children eager to participate and strengthen our school community pride. In the month of September we will be hosting our annual book fair. During this event, the teachers will have Wish Lists posted on their classroom doors. If you would like, you can choose a book off their wish list and purchase it at the fair for your child’s classroom.
Friendly’s Family night is on September 12, 2017. The last event we hosted raised money towards one of our families in need. We were able to provide this family with approximately $600.00. September’s Friendly’s Night event funds will be utilized toward renting a local school for our Holiday Program. We understand that last year’s venue was small. This year we are working on renting either Brooke Elementary school or the 9th Grade Center so we can accommodate all of our friends and families.
Grandparents Day Events – will be hosted in each classroom. Please visit your child’s teacher to find out what exciting event will be going on in their room on September 14th.
Don’t forget to come out and participate in the PTO! The first meeting is on September 14th at 6:15 p.m.
Put your smiles on! Picture Day will be September 11th and 12th. Please see your child’s classroom door or your e-mail for the day that your child will be getting photographed.
Our Second Annual Trunk or Treat Event is right around the corner on October 31st. We will be sending more information out in the near future – but I just wanted to give you a heads up for those who would like to plan their trunk decorations earlier and start getting ideas. Here is a website that I found which has some ideas some are pretty extravagant while others are simple and cute. http://trunkortreat.homestead.com/ We will be posting a sign-up sheet mid-September for all who are interested in participating in the event.
The traffic in our parking lot will be changing in the morning hours. Now that our school age children are going to school, we ask that you please slow down and be more aware of your surroundings as you are traveling in the parking area. You will start seeing busses and vans loading and unloading children between 8:30am and 8:45am and again starting at 3:45pm-4:15pm. We are asking you to please keep the two parking spots in front of Building B open so the Bus and Van can pull in for easy and safe loading and unloading of the children. Please take extra caution, turn off your car when you exit it and make sure your children are buckled into their seats.
Happy Back To School!
We are looking forward to your partnership for another great year!
