From the Office of the Principal
The summer is almost over, which means that before we know it, it will be Back-to-School time! We hope everyone is having a wonderful summer so far. We’ve had lots of summer activities for the preschoolers and field trips for the school-agers in the month of July, and they will only continue throughout the month of August. Let’s first recap July though… we hope everyone had a wonderful Independence Day holiday. The preschoolers enjoyed water play days every Wednesday and Thursday, a visit from Hightouch Hightech science experiments where they made a crazy chemical concotion, did an art project through Art Space Studio, saw wild animals through Zootastic Zoo To Go, enjoyed Kona Ice Fridays, made their own milk chocolate with Chocolate Bar in a Car, Mr. Nigel and Friends music classes, Music for Little Ones music class, Amazing Athletes sports classes, Jumpbunch sports classes, and more! The school-agers got to go on field trips to Extreme Ice, William R. Davie Park, Sports Connection, Discovery Place Science, Stallings Park water playground, and Krispy Kreme!
August is shaping up to be a busy month as well with plenty of activities for the children during the month! The preschoolers will enjoy water play days every Tuesday and Wednesday, Jersey Day, Zootastic animal show, Chocolate Bar in a Car, Music for Little Ones, and much more! The school-agers will get to go on field trips to Kate’s Skating Rink, Anne Springs Greenway Nature Preserve, William R. Davie Park, South Charlotte County Library, Cici’s Pizza, and Stallings Park water playground! Finally, Links to Learning folders go home on Thursday, August 31, and September will start the new school year!
With the new school year coming up, please keep a look out for more information regarding week-long transitions into new classrooms in late August-early September. Once transitions are over, the Links to Learning curriculum will be implemented in full in your child’s new classroom. You will receive a Links to Learning Parent Folder in the end of every month, which will provide you will lots of information, including monthly skill sheets that detail concepts and skills your child has learned in the previous month, samples of your child’s work, as well as a monthly snapshot previewing skills for the upcoming month and providing suggestions for fun activities at home that reinforce the teaching in the classroom. This folder is in addition to the information you will see every day on the Links to Learning Parent Board outside your child’s classroom. The board will detail skills taught that week, includes the weekly lesson plan, daily skills, that month’s Spanish words (for Beginner and older classrooms), and the “This is what we learned today!” sheet, where the teachers will give you an overview of the day’s activities. For additional information on the Links to Learning curriculum, please click here. If you would like to schedule a conference with your child’s teacher as the new year starts, please let one of us know.
As always, we will always be here to help you in any way possible if you have any questions or concerns.
Kindest Regards,
William Gordon, Principal

Does this scenario sound familiar? You drive your smiling child to school, walk him to his classroom, say goodbye and hand him off to his teacher. When you’re ready to leave, he begins crying, clings to your leg and begs you not to go. Separation anxiety is a completely normal[.....]
