August News

The last month of Summer Camp is upon us.  I can’t believe how quickly this summer has passed us.  The children have been very eager to share their field trip experiences as they return each day, and I will admit the school has a calming sense around it as each child goes home looking a bit tired each day from all the fun activities that they have been participating in!  Just watching them in the back field playing with the ball structures each week has been a great joy for me!  Thank you for all the feedback we have been receiving from our parent surveys.  We take them very seriously and appreciate all the feedback that has been shared.

This month we will be having our Back to School Night on (August 31, 2017).   Please plan on attending with your child.  This event is hosted as a Open House event and we encourage you to visit your child’s new classroom that they might be joining immediately or in the upcoming months.  This is a great opportunity for you to also meet other parents in the room and visit the room with your child introducing them to set up of the classroom, looking at the learning materials, and helping them get comfortable in their new setting.  We hope to see you all here.

Cradles to Crayons Donations

I never thought when I set the classroom 10 campers up for the challenge of collecting donations for Cradles to Crayons I would have never imagined their enthusiasm.  Every time I walk into their classroom they are so excited to share with me what they are collecting at home.   Miss Melanie has already started loading the van with the donations that have been left in the garage and we have more to put in it.   At this point if the Purple School van gets filled the children earn a pizza party for their hard work, if they fill the van and we need to start filling another vehicle they will get a pizza party with a ice cream party to celebrate all of their hard work.  They are surely up for the challenge and several of them have told me they are willing to clean their room to give donations away.   The second part that many of them are eager for is the actual trip to Cradles to Crayons to donate their time and learn more about the facility.  When I explained to them it was serious work and they would be helping children who were less fortunate and in need.   I was faced with many questions and asked to provide examples.  I am hoping that they find this experience as rewarding as they will the pizza/ice cream party they are working towards.  Don’t forget to donate if you can.  Even the smallest bag of donations goes a long way.
