There are many magical benefits to be gained by reading with your child. Reading is one of the earliest shared
experiences that a parent can have with their child. Sitting together or snuggling fosters a sense of warmth and security. Reading aloud will expand a child’s vocabulary, teach proper book handling skills, and an understanding of a sequence of events. Setting time aside each day will not only show your child that you want to spend time with him, but will set the stage for a love of learning. I encourage you to let your child pick out a book, cuddle up and read together!
To encourage reading, we are having a book day on the 9th. Have your child bring in a book and we will read it with them! This month we will also have a magician visit our school! Sam the magic man has been coming the last couple of years and the students and teachers walk away from the show amazed!
Here are some of the fun things we have planned for the month of August:
- 1st: Bike Day: Bring in your bikes and helmets!
- 2nd: Ice Cream Sandwich Day
- 3rd: Friendship Day
- 9th: Book Lovers Day: Bring in your favorite book to share
