Summer is in full swing here at Chesterbrook! Students have been enjoying water play and the ice cream truck. This month, a storyteller is coming to the school to share with us!
As summer progresses, many hours are spent in the car; driving to school, going to the store, going to park, going to the beach, etc. These journeys can be shared moments of memories and learning. After school, you could have a cool drink and little snack for your child to enjoy on the ride home. Your 4-5 year old, can take inventory of paper towels and milk supply before going to the store. Younger children can play I-Spy, search for animals, name colored cars, or count airplanes. Keeping an activity bag in the car with tape stories, drawing materials, small toys, and some card games are some ideas. These drives, regardless of the distance, do not have to be stressful. With frequent stop-and-stretch breaks and some of these activities, you’re sure to make the miles amusing.
Have a happy and safe July!
