From the Office of the Principal
April was such a fun and busy month! Some of the many activities and events we had include our Week of the Young Child activities and our Ladybug Release was a huge success! We released 3000 ladybugs into nature, and the children had a blast! WCNC News was there and did a story on our Ladybug Release! Thank you all to the parents who attended for making our Earth Day Ladybug Release a huge success. Our school-agers enjoyed Spring Break camp with field trips to Stallings Park, Sports Connection, and Farley’s Pizza! During Week of the Young Child we had plenty of fun activities throughout the week, including Music Monday with Mr. Nigel, Tasty Tuesday, where we will make different dishes from countries around the world, Work-Together Wednesday for a STEM activity, Artsy Thursday, where we will do art projects in the style of famous artists, and D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything and Read!) Mystery Readers on Friday!
We look forward to May! We have a free vision screening for all children on Wednesday, May 3. Teacher Appreciation Week will start on Monday, May 8 through Friday, May 12. During this week we will be doing lots of fun things for our wonderful teachers to show our appreciation for all the hard work they do. We are sincerely grateful to our teachers, and we want to make sure we thank them accordingly! As we behold the wonder that is our teachers, our theme this year is “Shining Stars!” Each day will have a related theme, and see the Upcoming Events section for each day’s theme. We will hold an Open House for prospective families on Tuesday, May 9 from 5 to 7 pm, and we will be hosting an art gallery during that time, with art made by our students! We sincerely hope that all of our mothers have a wonderful Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 14! We will have something special planned for our mothers on the following Monday, May 15, so please stay tuned for more details on this event soon! Our Daisy Dance recital will be on Monday, May 22 at 9:30 am and 10:15 am. Please refer to the email that went out from Daisy Dance regarding your child’s recital time. Our Shining Stars class will present “The Three Billy Goats Gruff” on Tuesday, May 23 at 5:30 pm. Please remember that we will be closed on Monday, May 29 in observance of Memorial Day. Finally, Links to Learning Folders will go home on Wednesday, May 31.
We are gearing up for Summer Camp with our preschoolers as well as our school agers. An email will go out in the coming weeks detailing the activities, calendar, and activity fees for our Preschool and Elementary Summer Camps this summer, so please be on the look out for that. Our Elementary Summer Camp is filling up fast, so make sure to sign up if you are interested in having your child attend!
As always, we will always be here to help you in any way possible if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
William Gordon, Principal
