A Message from the Principal:
Welcome to April! Please take a look at our April newsletter here to learn all about what is going on this month.
Important Dates this Month:
APRIL:
*Picture day is Thursday, April 6th. Please bring your children dressed in their picture day outfits. We try to have all of the younger children and siblings go first to allow for their individualized schedules the rest of the day. If you would like a specific background, please drop off all picture forms that were sent home earlier this week by Wednesday morning.
*We will be celebrating Earth day on Friday, April 21st at 3:30pm. Please join us for this special event and our annual ladybug release. Don’t forget to dress in red and black!
*Birdhouse contest! We are asking our families to work together to create a special birdhouse to hang in our tree. Our staff (as well as some guest voters) will vote on their favorite and the winner will receive a special gardening gift basket. If your family would like to participate, all birdhouses are due to the front desk by the morning of April 21st. The winner will be announced at our event that day at 3:30pm. All birdhouses will hang in our tree out front and be on display for a week before being returned to be hung at home. There are no special rules for this birdhouse contest…time to get creative!
*April 24th-28th is the Week of the Young Child. You are able to read more about this special week in the April newsletter. April 28th is a day to celebrate families, and we would like to do so by hanging family photos on our front desk. If you would like to participate, please email all family photos to my email address, sarah.zirzow@nlcinc.com, and they will be hung for the month of April.
*April will be the last month of cooking class before it begins again during our summer camp.
MAY:
SAVE THE DATE for teacher appreciation week (May 1st-5th) and our Mother’s Day Tea on May 12th at 3:30pm.
Spring Break Camp
During the week of April 10th, Fairfax County Public Schools are closed for spring break. We will be hosting a fun spring break camp for all school aged students during this week. The week includes events such as gardening, science experiments, canvas art, and a camp in day! Please see the brochure here for more information.
