Dear Parents,
March is sure to be another busy month at Chesterbrook Academy. Spring is around the corner and teachers are busy planning a variety of fun seasonal activities that will help our students learn more about the many changes which occur in our environment during springtime. Be on the look-out for plants and flowers popping up around campus.
March also marks the beginning of our annual “Early Bird Registration” period. You will have an opportunity to secure your child’s space for the upcoming 2017/2018 school year. Current families who re-register between 3/13 & 3/24 will receive 50% off the annual registration fee. You may still register after the early bird registration period; however, the fee will be full price. Please keep in mind that we are currently at 100% capacity and available space will be offered to the public when our early bird session is over.
This month teachers and students in all age groups will be working hard at creating new dramatic play centers in their classrooms. Please take a moment to check out what your child’s classroom dramatic play theme will be. Thank you for donating items or letting us borrow items to make dramatic play a quality experience. Dramatic play can be defined as a type of play where children accept and assign roles, and then act them out. It is a time when they break through the walls of reality, pretend to be someone or something different from themselves, and dramatize situations and actions to go along with the roles they have chosen to play. And while this type of play may be viewed as frivolous by some, it remains an integral part of the developmental learning process by allowing children to develop skills in such areas as abstract thinking, literacy, math, and social studies, in a timely, natural manner.
We would like to thank all parents that participated in our PAR surveys. We are so grateful to be able to hear your thoughts and opinions and are taking them to heart to make changes at our school. We greatly appreciate all the praise for our staff, school, and curriculum.

A Powerful Connection to a Lifetime of Learning
Your children experience the perfect balance of learning and play in a safe, nurturing environment. Our Links to Learning (LTL) curriculum prepares them for kindergarten by introducing concepts in reading, math, art, music and much more. You will receive progress updates, as well as ideas to continue learning at home.
You can expect to receive daily communication and pictures via email through our Links 2 Home program. And, we also encourage you to take a few moments each week to review your child’s classroom Links to Learning “Parent Board,” so you can “Link” to your child’s early education experiences. Posted are “Weekly Skills,” “Lesson Plan,” “Daily Schedule,” “Monthly Spanish” and “Learning Outcomes.”
PARENT REQUIREMENT: Signing your child in and out daily is not only a licensing and company policy but, an added security measure, which ensures all children are accounted for while in our care. PLEASE, BE DILIGENT ABOUT RECORDING YOUR CHILD’S ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE TIMES. Thank you!
SICK POLICY:
The purpose of our sick policy is to reduce the spread of illness among our students and to encourage full recuperation of sick children before they return to school. We depend on parents to assist us in maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all of our children.
Children may be sent home if they have any concerning symptoms. Also, a child must be free of all of these symptoms for at least 24 hours before he/she can return to school. These symptoms include:
- A Fever of 100 degrees or more
- Vomiting within the previous 24-hour period
- Diarrhea within the previous 24-hour period
- Symptoms of a communicable disease
- Fussy, cranky behavior and not himself/ herself
Following an illness, a child may return to school once he/she has either been seen by a doctor or it has been determined that illness is not contagious. (A doctor’s clearance may be requested.) Please help us keep all of our children healthy by following these rules. If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know. Thank you for your support!
TUITION: Tuition is due the 1st business day of every month. Accounts not paid in full by 12:00 pm the fifth business day of every month will automatically receive a late fee of $25. If tuition is not paid in full by the 7th business day of each month your child may not attend until the balance is paid in full. Failure to comply with tuition policies will result in a notice of dis-enrollment. If you’d like to sign up for our ACH program, which automatically pulls your monthly tuition from the account of your choice the 1st business day of every month, just let us know, and we will help get you enrolled.
ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS FEES: If your child is signed up to attend a specific enrichment program, the monthly fee must be paid in full the first week of every month or your child may not attend the second week. Please understand, we are obligated to pay our physical fitness vendors in a timely manner for their services. Credits will not be issued for missed classes due to absence or non-payment.
CATERED LUNCH PROGRAM ADVANCE ORDERING REQUIRED Monthly lunch order forms are available two weeks prior to each new month. Please be sure to turn your lunch order in with payment no later than the posted deadline. Late orders may not be honored. Pizza Friday orders for the entire month must also be turned in by the deadline. Ordering lunch is an optional service. You may also send lunch from home.
WE NEED YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT AND PATIENCE! PARKING – As many of you have experienced, finding a parking space between 8:45am & 9:15am and 11:45am & 12:15pm is quite challenging. We are asking families to please be considerate during drop-off and pick-up times by not parking in an area that is not a designated parking space. There is a field on the north side of the building that we have permission to use for parking. You are welcome to park there during drop-off and pick-up times. PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN FRONT OF THE DUMPSTER. The Port St. Lucie Police Department will periodically patrol our parking lot during peak hours and issue citations for any vehicles that are parked illegally. If you have any concerns, please report them to the administration. Thank you!
