Dear Parents,
Now that the holiday season has arrived, many of us will take the time to visit with family and friends or reconnect with important people in our lives. This type of personal connection is an important part of our school’s philosophy and continues to flourish through our many school events. Meaningful connections between teachers and parents guarantee academic, social, and emotional growth of each of our students. Your participation in our school activities has been amazing! Thank you for your support and ongoing commitment to our Chesterbrook Academy community.
Thank you for your generous donations towards our Cozy for The Cure Pajama Day! Together we raised $1175 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. We are very grateful for our support!
‘Tis the season to explore December celebrations, observances, and activities from many cultures. What is another name for St. Nicholas? What is a Menorah? What is a Karamu? The answers to these questions will be highlighted in December lessons that will cover multi-cultural holiday traditions. Be sure to check out classroom education boards to see evidence of learning fun! Speak to your child’s teacher if you would like to share a special tradition from your family with the class.
This is also a season of giving. The week of December 12th we are going to have a winter spirit week, with something each day to help raise money for Make A Wish! Together, we can change lives of children – like Jose. Jose knows just how much kids his age love playing on the playground. That’s why he surprised his classmates, teachers and members of the community by including them all in his wish experience. Jose wished to give a new playground to his elementary school for all the students to enjoy. As Jose approached the playground of his dreams, cheering classmates surrounded him. This was his day. He cut the big red ribbon and welcomed his friends to their new playground. Children like Jose are what inspired us to establish a Make-A-Wish week.
Please help by contributing any amount you can on any or all of our Make A Wish days. Cash or checks made out to Make A Wish will be accepted! Every dollar you donate can help Make-A-Wish kids renew their courage and find a turning point in their lives. Thank you for your support!
Monday 12/12 – Wish Star Ornaments: Donate a minimum of $2 and you get to write your child’s name on a wish star and hang it on our tree. Your child can also decorate their ornament if they would like!
Tuesday 12/13– Gift Wrap for a donation: Bring in your presents and we will wrap them for you for a donation of $3 per gift!
Wednesday 12/14 – Winter Wear Wednesday: Wear your favorite winter hat, boots, and gloves to school to bring in the winter!
Thursday 12/15 – Bring your favorite winter book or stuffed animal to show your class!
Friday 12/16 – Polar Express Day: Wear your pajamas to school, walk the red carpet, and get a ticket punched, just like in the movie. Intermediate and Pre-K classes will also be able to watch The Polar Express during the day! Donate a minimum of $1 for your own jingle bell and $5 for picture with Santa!
Cash or checks made out to Make A Wish will be accepted!
