February is here! Will we finally see some true winter weather? We have had a fairly mild winter so far, but I’m sure some cold and snowy days may be here soon.
Sometimes February seems like such a long month. We often find ourselves at the mercy of the weather. I found some fun winter activities that you can do with your child that will create lasting memories- for your child and you!:
- Build an indoor fort. Blankets, cushions, tables- let your imagination go wild. Read some stories, play some games, do some crafts- all in your fort.
- Build and ice castle – fill ice cube trays with an assortment of glitter, sequins, etc. Fill with water and freeze. The frozen ice cubes will make a sparkly castle. (Try adding some food coloring to the water to make different colors too.)
- If it snows.. Snow paint! Fill spray bottles with colored water and let the creativity flow!
- Make homemade ice cream! Pinterest is a great resource for recipes.
- Blow bubbles outside and see if they freeze.
- Fill balloons with colored water and set them outside. When they freeze, remove the balloons and you will have frozen balls of colorful ice.
- Make a bird feeder. (Again, Pinterest)
- No snow? How about making your own snow- just 2 ingredients- (1/2 cup conditioner and 2 cups baking soda)
All of the activities above are not only fun, but they are educational too. If you have other ideas, share them with us!
Have a fun month!

The little old groundhog looks for his shadow
The clouds in the sky determine our fate
If winter will leave us all early or late.”
