The month of gifts, bright festive lights, candles, carols, and visitors is upon us. As you are aware we have many fun holiday events planned for the children this month; from their own holiday shopping experience, to our first Holiday Program at the Chesterbrook Academy Oaks Elementary School, and donation trees, holiday parties and a Pajama Day.
In the upcoming weeks in your e-mail you will receive an invite to complete our Annual Parent Survey. I am asking that you please take a few minutes out of your busy schedule to complete this survey. It is very important to us to have feedback from each of our families so we know how we can better meet the needs of your children and yourselves. Each year we take each comment very seriously and utilize them throughout the year for training tools for the management team, myself, and the staff. In addition to learning where we can improve upon ourselves, this tool is also utilized to know how we can maintain and keep doing what makes our students and families love Chesterbrook Academy.
As the weather becomes colder and it is inevitable that we will be seeing some snow in the upcoming months, we want you and your children to be prepared. Please make sure that your child is prepared each day to spend time on the playground. We will be going outside anytime the wind-chill factor is above 0 degrees. The amount of time spent outside will be determined on the temperature. Outdoor play is a daily requirement by the Department of Human Services and is a great way to assist in beating the germs that will be harboring in the classrooms. Also, now is a great time to double check your child’s cubby for season appropriate spare clothing. We all know accidents happen, and we don’t want your child cold when they have their next spill or messy mishap.
In the event that the weather turns bad and we need to alter the schools hours due to the travel safety of our staff and families please remember that we have several systems in place. I recommend that you refer to at least 2 of these outlets at any given time to verify our daily schedule. To assist you in making sure that you are well aware we will be posting changes on our phone app Remind (you must sign up for this), our school website, channel 6 news, and our school answering machine. From past experience the parents love the Remind App – as it is a great easy tool to utilize. If you did not already sign up or would like more information please send us an e-mail and we will be happy to share the directions with you to join.
The teachers and children in Beginners through Kindergarten are working really hard on planning and preparing for the holiday show on Friday December 16th. We will be sending a sign-up sheet and permission slip to see who will be participating in the show. I have heard that many aunts, uncles, and grandparents are excited to attend. While we will have a full gymnasium for seating, please be aware that due to the great response we are having we are expecting a full house. We are already aware that parking could be a difficulty, so we are looking at an offsite parking lot and shuttling parents to the facility. Please stay tuned for more information. I have spoken to Mr. and Mrs. Claus and they are very excited for this event as well.
I hope you have a great holiday season that is fun, bright and full of kindness and love.
Sincerely,
Donna Baus, Principal
The holidays are a busy time for all of us, filled with family traditions, get-togethers, shopping and traveling. With the hustle and bustle of it all, it’s important to pause and reflect on our many blessings and invite our children to do so as well. It’s a great time to[.....]
