December is upon us.  2016 is coming to an end!  This is the month that is full of hustle and bustle.  Many of us are rushing off to holiday parties, doing shopping, decorating our homes, and enjoying holiday celebrations.

If you want happiness for an hour, take a nap. If you want happiness for a day, go fishing. If you want happiness for a year, inherit a fortune. If you want happiness for a lifetime, help somebody. -Chinese Proverb

This is a wonderful time for us to help our children learn the value of giving to others. Giving can be very challenging for a young child.  Helping children to learn they can make a difference is a gift to that child.  Teaching children to care about others is what makes our world a better place.  When children give, they are being empowered to make a difference!  They will see that they can help other.

Here are some of our fun things we have planned for the month of December:

We will be collecting hats/ gloves/ mittens/ pajamas from December 5th-16th.  We will decorate our own “Giving Tree” with these items.  Help us hide our tree with warmth!

• 1st: Basketball Day: Wear your favorite Team’s Colors
• 2nd: Favorite Team Jersey Day: Wear your Favorite Team
• 6th: St Nicholas Day: We will put our shoes in the hall and see if we get any treats
• 8th: We will graph our favorite class colors
• 9th: We will wear our class color (the color that we graphed and voted on 12/8)
• 12-16th: Holiday Gift Shop will be open.  The children will be able to shop for gifts for the upcoming holidays.
• 12th: Gingerbread Day: We will make gingerbread creations
• 14th: Yoga Day
• 16th: Ugly Sweater Day: Let’s see your version of an ugly sweater
• 20th: Dress for your favorite holiday day: You pick your favorite holiday and see if we can guess by how you are dressed
• 21st: Winter Begins
• 22nd: Holiday PJ Day
• 23rd: Chesterbrook will be Closing at 3pm
• 25th: Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah
• 26th: Chesterbrook is Closed
• 27th: Cut out a snowflake day
• 30th: Make New Year’s Party Hats
• Jan 1st: Happy New Year
• Jan 2nd: Chesterbrook is Closed

Reminders

• Please be sure to wash your child’s hands upon entry into the classroom.  We want to do our best to keep germs at bay!
• Please be sure all schedule changes have been approved by the office.
• Please sign your child in and out each day; the sheets are located in the foyer outside of the office.
• Please do not leave your vehicles running while you are inside the building.
