November News

Dear Parents,

October was a fun and busy month! Our Pre-K students went on their first field trip to the pumpkin patch and were so excited to ride in an official school bus. All classrooms created fun seasonal projects, carved and decorated pumpkins, learned about fire safety when the fire department visited and enjoyed our school Halloween parade and parties. Our most popular annual event, Trunk or Treat was a hit!  Wow…what a turn-out! The weather was great, your costumes and trunk decorations were fabulously creative and everyone seemed to be having a great time! It was so nice to see our Chesterbrook families and kids having fun together on this festive evening. Thank you so much for being so generous, your enthusiastic participation in our seasonal events is very much appreciated.

The next big school event will be our annual Thanksgiving Feast on Tuesday, November 24th. We sure have a lot to be thankful for this year, so along with planning for a big school feast, the children will learn the meaning of giving through theme related activities, which include a “Canned Food Drive”. This year we are partnering with the Treasure Coast Food Bank to help those less fortunate in the Treasure Coast area. Beginning Monday, November 2nd you will see a drop-off box for non-perishable food items. Your donations will be delivered to the food bank on Friday, November 20th by our elementary campers. What a great learning experience this will be for our elementary age kids on ways to help those less fortunate in our community.

Our teachers are enthusiastic about developing lifelong learners. They genuinely care about children and have the sensitivity and knowledge to understand a child’s individual developmental needs and learning styles. They take the time to help each child discover, in his or her own way, a fascinating world of learning and play.

We help our teachers keep current in the latest techniques by sponsoring professional development where internal and external trainers and consultants lead our workshops.  Each staff member is required by the state of Florida to accomplish ten or more hours of training each year. Chesterbrook Academy closes its doors twice a year for professional development. We chose Veteran’s Day, 11/11 and President’s Day 2/16 as our training days because public schools, banks and government offices are closed, therefore closing would negatively affect fewer families. We look forward to sharing learning experiences with other dedicated Chesterbrook Academy teachers in Florida and appreciate your support as we empower our teachers to better meet the needs of your children.
